A serious discussion about the merits of rugby football

It’s, loike, lawnster.

He was dipping into contact though was he not? Anyway agreed with the rule and it could’ve been red but I thought it was marginal.

There’s nowt as zealous as a convert

:grinning: you couldn’t be more wrong there flatty but how’s ever.

Cipriani got a red in almost identical circumstances against Munster a few years back. The only differences were Cipriani injured nobody that time and the other tackler complicated matters, incredible that the Kiwi got away with that this evening.

Not incredible. It’s Leinster.

I didn’t think he was dipping in any material way tbh

Yep marginal alright but I thought he did stumble and dip at the last second but could easily have been red with the new rule change but don’t think it was a slam dunk red. It wouldn’t have been as much as a penalty 3 years ago so at least moving in the right direction.

I think when you look at the angle fro. Behind parks back the height change looks immaterial. Plus, he didn’t dip, he was being tackled by another leinster player. The inconsistency in decision making is v poor. Dickson is a poor ref, he played professional until 4 or 5 years ago he is exactly what they are looking for in young refs to develop. Just not a good ref tho

This was 3 years ago, there is far more mitigation there than there was for JGP tonight.

Saw it there. IMHO @Horsebox is correct. While it could have been a red under current laws/interpretations it would have been harsh. JGB basically stands there and holds his ground as Marmion runs directly at him. You’d almost criticise JGB for the passive nature of his “tackle”. Could be red but fairly marginal.

Anyway, the main thing is that @gilgamboa and @flattythehurdler came away seething due to their respective provincial biases :joy:

Sure thing pal. No provincial bias in your view at all :joy:

Of course there is - but it’s from a perspective of continual success which allows far more magnanimity😆

How do you see Munster going today. Could some of the injuries prove a good thing ie force the management to back in form younger players?

Dreadful to see Connacht coach Andy Friend showing his bias

I love the lawnster lads. Had that been the other way, they’d have been spitting out their edamame beans in outrage.
