Don’t think MDH will ever be a top class chaser, not a natural jumper, reminds me of carvills hill back in the early 90s, pipe eventually got a henessy out of him but it took years of pain. Think willie will take him back to staying hurdles now
i dont know kid,
they set the bar very high for him this year, where he was asked to run in three grade 1s over 2m 5f, 2m 1f and 3m. He is still a novice and they may be better off campaigning him as an RSA horse from the start next year, start him off in low key beginners and gradually build it from there. there is no point going back over hurdles as long as big bucks is there.
He has been chasing for 2 seasons now already
hes had one season chasing thats it. never ran last year, and had one chase start in france before going to Mullins. Dont think the sire (lavirco) has had one of its progeny win a graded chase. Granted not many have tried.
Ah he’s been schooling longer than Joe canning at this stage, he just isn’t athletic enough, writing was on the wall at xmass
Its a hard one no doubt. did not think he did much wrong in drinmore, jumped the last well and was unfortunate to crumble on landing. Next time he was terrible, but that may be bounce factor at play. In PJ Moriarity, he jumped like he did in drinmore, and was brought to virtual standstill by fall of quel esprit. Jumped well in RSA, till fall.
I dont like making excuses for horses but ive seen much worse than him over fences.
Perhaps a visit to Yogi Breisner for him, flat out and quel esprit might pay dividends.
I actually don’t think it’s his jumping, he is just not clever and is quite stiff , the drinmore was not isolated in hindsight and for me was just another symptom of the issue, he is like a slow footed boxer packing a big punch, will always get caught when footwork is required. Would probably be ok on a parklands course, will never win a chase in Cheltenham in my view , quel esprit is more promising but time will tell
.
Is this a thread about Quel Espirit?
If you like. Best priced 9/2 for the Hennessy in 2 weeks and 33s for the Gold Cup. If I were you Mac I’d add him to that nice little Cheltenham book you have going for yourself before Leopordstown.
One of my better threads
Only beats the same old horses.
Again…and again…and again…and again,etc
The greatest of them all

Wahey:D, Happy Christmas Runt old boy
What a thread
Hurricane Fly is available at a whopping 6/1 to win this years Champion Hurdle which he’ll win. By half two tomorrow he’ll be half that price.
It’s time to bet like men:cool:
TreatyStones please feel free to bump this thread on Monday the 10th of March
Big test today alright, his price will prob half if he wins. Good too see he’ll be racing more than his stable mate this time . Funnily enough he’d need to be near his best to win this which might not be the best idea. It would be better if he gave a good performance with more to come in which case his price might even lengthen
