The subs clapped the team out too, which showed the unity that was there. This was bound to have had a positive impact too.

An interesting point to note is that 30 years ago Gerry McInerney man-marked the Kilkenny player that was flagged as their key man. Kieran Brennan was expected to get MOTM en route to a KK AIF victory. Gerry Mc, however, made his life a misery from start to finish and ended up MOTM for a victorious Galway team. Fast forward 30 years and his son, Gearoid, repeated the trick on Austin Gleeson.

Iā€™d say the young fella finally got sick of gerry dangling the medals in front of him

Listen, when it comes down to it, you simply canā€™t bate breeding.

An ounce of breeding bates a ton of feeding.

Kk blew that final . They had a huge amount of wides . Ger Fennelly had an awful off day . They say in Kk if Angela Downey was taking the frees that day they would have won . Galway played poorly that day .

Iā€™d say Joe Connolly was some man to gee up a dressing room.

Gearoid didnā€™t miss out on the feeding bit all the same.

Never a truer word spoken. Gerry couldnā€™t hit the ball and neither can his young fella.

Is this not the norm?

They could both hit a centre forward good and proper, and thatā€™s the main thing.

Gearoid was pucking the heads off lads for a while now, I remember him skelping the shit out of some Crummy fella during that mickey mouse hurling yoke they had out in Fenway a few years back. You could see the breeding was good in him even then.

Breeding and feeding will only get you half the way.

I remember Gerry bringing Gearoid and Sean up to Kinvara with him in the mid 00ā€™s when he was training our senior team. They did all the laps and the sprints with us in the shit and muck with the atlantic gale pelting rain into our faces.
