Huge game for Celtic today at 12. When we lost to the huns in the past couple of years we recovered immediately in the league. Have to make sure that happens again.
We’re in terrible form and have a tough schedule ahead for the rest of the year. Won’t be as simple as changing to a 4 at the back and expecting the performances to follow but I do think the 3 was based on playing another striker beside Edouard and he hasn’t been able to play anyway.
Hopefully Christie starts. Welsh should drop to the bench. Duffy saved by lack of options. They will be calls for Brown to drop out but this doesn’t seen like the obvious game for it. Especially if there’s a change in formation. I’d still switch him either for Christie (with 2 strikers) or Rogic with Christie or Elyounoussi playing off Ajeti but I don’t see it happening.
Based on the fact they won’t sit deep and they will try and come at us. Soro is completely unproven. You are championing him the way you championed Shved (based on nothing at all). Hope Turnbull comes good, but he hasn’t really been trusted yet since his one start that didn’t go well for him.
I’d like to see us play without Brown today but I think it’s unlikely based on this being a tough away game against a team who will attack us.
Soro is completely unproven - yes, unknown because the manager point blank refuses to give him an opportunity and sticks with out of form players who have not being doing the business for considerable amounts of time.
By your logic, new players should never be given a chance.
What I said about Shved and Bayo is the same, how can we say whether they are good enough if they aren’t given the opportunity. What I have seen from the likes of Brown and Forrest in the past 12 months has certainly not been good enough but that doesn’t harm their chances of a regular starting jersey.
When are you actually going to be objective on management decisions rather than blindly defending every ridiculous decision made
There is precious little point in countering that with even a pinch of reality. But we have won the last 11 domestic trophies in a row.
You want to dismiss that achievement in favour of a lad who can’t get a game for a shitty club in Belgium and another lad who is a 50/50 starter for a second division French team.
The performances lately haven’t been good enough and the results are catching up with those performances. But for the love of God stop proclaiming Shved and Bayo as the disregarded saviours of the team. They didn’t play in a high performing team and their performances since support that completely.
The loanees actually playing well are Hendry and Morgan but we’re pretty sure they’re nowhere near good enough.
Ok, lets look at Lennon, took over a team 8 points clear with 2/3 of the season done and dusted, wins the Scottish Cup. Wins the subsequent league by default and flukes a League Cup with an offisde goal and an heroic goalkeeping display, suffer 3 humiliations in Europe at the hands of Cluj, Copenhagen and Ferencvaros.
As soon as the form of Edouard regressed, we have looked an absolute rabble, he is tactically inept, he has made certain players undroppable regardless of form or fitness. The fact about Bayo and Shved is we don’t know. We simply do not know because Lennon kept picking players who were completely out of form ahead of him.
If he gave guys like Bayo, Soro or Shved their opportunities and they didn’t impress we would not be having this discussion, he didn’t and kept picking out of form players.
You have shown time and time again that you are not up for objective discussion of management and revert into defending the indefensible at the first chance.
You are doing it right now with completely valid criticism of Lennon, the writing has been on the wall for some time but your head has been buried firmly in the stand. When it comes to Neil Lennon, you are a slow learner.
You are ignoring the wins against Lazio home and away. You are ignoring the Rennes results. You are ignoring getting to the semi final of the Scottish Cup again with a big chance to get another treble for last season.
You want him to pick players you’ve barely seen kick a ball because you have a hunch they might be good. And you think others have an issue with objectivity.
I’m all for criticising Lennon. I think he picked the wrong team last week (an apalling selection) and during the week (really frustrating stubbornness). And on both occasions I think he was far too slow to react.
But Bayo and Shved are not the answer! Hopefully Soro can be part of it. And Turnbull certainly looks like he might be.
Slim pickings there, we were indebted against Lazio on both ocassions.
I want him to give players an opportunity to impress over player who are woefully out of form. That is reasonable, that is the exact culture we had under Rodgers where the likes of Rogic, Armstrong, McGregor and Christie were able to come in out of the cold and make an impression. It’s a role reversal of the Rodgers where if you weren’t playing well others got a chance, if they took their chance they stayed in the team.
The likes of Kouassi and Hendry did get chances under Rodgers that Bayo, Soro and Shved simply did not with Lennon.
Why can’t you just acknowledge simple facts rather than blindly defending Lennon, your initial post was a defence of something you know is completely wrong.
Brown should not be playing today, his form has been poor we have many other alternatives and Rogic simply deserves a start. Yet you have tried to defend Lennon not starting. We are going to play Aberdeen, we need a win. Aberdeen aren’t a come at you type of team, they are a team who will pack men behind the wall and you’ve have tried to spin it like we are going to up against the walls today and that’s why we need Brown to start. Piss off, that is complete nonsense and the type of nonsense you have been long since pedaling to absolve Lennon of his ever growing list of mistakes.
You’re obviously not reading my posts or anyone else’s.
Brown is not starting. I said I thought he shouldn’t but I assumed he would.
If you’re citing Jack Hendry as a positive example of giving players a chance then I’m afraid you’re just arguing black is white. That was all about indulging the manager’s belief he could do something with a raw player like that. Turned out he clearly couldn’t.
I’m going to try and enjoy the match now so I won’t be wasting my time discussing the likes of Shved any longer!
You made your excuses for Brown starting. It’s either the right decision or wrong decision and you tried to defend the wrong decision.
Right there, excuses for making the wrong decision.
I’m citing an example of a manager giving players opportunities, they can either take them or not take them. Hendry didn’t - we know he’s not been good enough.
Brown and Forrest are two examples of two players who have also simply not been goo enough in the past 12 months but there’s no danger of anybody being given a chance ahead of them. Those players are complacent in their place in the team, there is little motivation to improve their performances, the reason guys like Armstrong, Rogic, Christie and McGregor all developed and became better players at Celtic was that they knew they had to keep performing if they wanted to retain their place.
None of Rogic, Christie and McGregor have improved under Lennon. In fact you’d be hard pressed to find a player who is better now than they were when Lennon took the job from Rodgers, most of them have seen noticeable regressions.
