Sky aren’t bothering to show any games from the full midweek fixtures programme in the cinch.
Standout games tonight are Aberdeen v Celtic and Rangers v Hibernian.
A tricky away fixture for Celtic and, same as Sunday, you don’t want to be handing top spot back so soon after beating them. There doesn’t appear to be any new injury concerns. I’d expect Jota to be back in from the start. Not sure about the Rogic/O’Riley decision.
I saw it mentioned that the huns will have played 2 home games and 1 away game against 5 of the other teams currently in the top 6 (and all of them if Aberdeen leapfrog Dundee United) when it comes to the end of round 3 (33 games played). Any truth in this? They’ll have definitely played us twice at home by then. They’ve already played Hearts twice at home and this is their second home game against Hibs tonight.
In other words, their fixture list has been favourable. I don’t think they’d be given 5 away games post split, even if it came to that. They’ll probably end up playing 20 home games and 18 away ones and get a 3/1 home/away split against someone. We’re a bit the other way but just need to keep this run going anyway.
I see Guchi is back training but I imagine he’s a week away from playing anyway. But good to keep adding strength. I’d expect Juranovic to return to the starting team as well as Jota.
The fixtures thing is more or less the same every second year. The fixtures alternate each year more or less and I guess it’s impossible to predict the top 6. And then it gets disrupted when clubs like Hearts get relegated because they’re then expected to be bottom 6 and it skews the balance.
It’ll still irk me when we get an 18 home/20 away split & are sent to Tynecastle for the third time this season, while they’re given a third home game against Motherwell or something. Fuck it, it’s staying on the list.
Oh yes, it’s a given that Juranovic will return. I see that Here We Go! Italian transfer chap reporting that Leicester and other EPL clubs are interested in signing him.
Seemingly he picked up a knock against the huns. Possibly aggravated since.
No Rogic or GG but we’re getting back to a strong bench.
Only one month ago we had a bench of Mullen, Montgomery, Bolingoli, Soro and Dawson. We kept an incredible winning streak going when we were depleted. But this is a big game now tonight.
Another big night. We are well set up for this one though, Aberdeen midfield trio of Brown, Ferguson and McGeouch gives a good indication of what we’ll be up against.
