Abada looks onside here.
Aaaabbbbbaaaaddddaaaaaaa
1-1. CCV uncharacteristically very poor there.
Kkkmkyyyoooooggggooooooooo
That was a good half of football. More goals in this you’d feel. More chances for Celtic but they’re playing quite aggressive/attacking and causing us problems too. Our defence doesn’t look very comfortable.
Meada had a great half there I thought. Not everything came off but he roasted them a few times and has had them nervous on our direct balls. And Kyogo has been terrific.
I’m trying not to be down on Hart just because I think we need a new keeper but I thought that was his ball. Yer man reached it on the end line. Quite an open game where they’re pushing up & causing problems but there are chances for Celtic on the break. Maeda looks like he can get in nearly every time Celtic break. Opposition manmarking McGregor again this week & it’s having an effect alright. Celtic not really controlling possession but don’t think Aberdeen can sustain this effort off the ball either.
Unless new bodies arrive in to shore up defence and midfield we’ll be under severe pressure against Sevco in a few weeks given their reliance on lumping ball into the box. Hart, the full backs, Turnbull and CalMac very poor today. Hatate definitely needs to come on and I shudder to think what will happen if Kyoto ever goes or gets injured.
Early doors in season but in the two games so far this season Celtic don’t seem to get the same grip in midfield as they did under Ange .
I think the full backs are really causing issues for us with and without the ball. Taylor doesn’t look great as an orthodox left back.
As @Bandage alluded to I think we often have this problem when teams sit on McGregor.
Hatate for Turnbull now will be interesting. See if we go for more of a possession game or will we release Hatate forward.
Big test for Welsh now.
Welsh is utterly hopeless on the ball.
Celtic can’t cope with the Aberdeen press at all. How many times has the ball been played back to Hart who just lorries it up to the man mountain that is Kyogo…
I hope the rat is gone by Christmas
Oooooorrrrrriiiilllllleeeeyyyyyyyyyyy
Three of the back four can’t play with the ball at all. Fortunately Welsh is unlikely to feature again and Ralston will be a sub soon. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of Bernabei soon
WTF was Maeda doing with his chance just before the goal? Not a great performance overall from the team but 3 points at a tricky venue is all that matters. Now get some players in who’ll do a job on Champions League nights.
I missed half time - why did CCV go off?
Fairly unconvincing overall but it’s early days. Great football for the chance Devlin cleared off the line from Maeda & that probably would have made it much more comfortable. Celtic survived a spell of pressure from them after that & couldn’t take the sting out of the game as the passing wasn’t great. But got the goal eventually & saw it out fine after that.
I thought there were a few positives all the same. Holm looks like a very accomplished footballer & Yang was excellent for the third goal. I think O’Riley will flourish under Rodgers & I felt Nawrocki took control of the defence fairly well in the second half despite it only being his second game.
I thought Hart was indecisive - slow to come off his line at times & not dominant in dealing with corners & crosses. Thankfully the lad was offside when he came out & milled him out of it. I also wonder if Hatate was feigning injury when he came on & went off again. Hopefully not a ploy to lead to a move away.
A good bit of work to do on the training ground & to secure some new players but brilliant to be keeping pace with St Mirren with all that going on.
CCV was taken off as a precaution they said.
Yeah I think that’s a fair assessment. A shaky spell in the second half alright. Hatate had some lovely passes when he first came on and other than the Devlin clearance we could have put the game to bed then. But we didn’t really use him deeper to get on the ball and had a nervous spell.
They were letting Welsh have it and despite McGregor urging him to step forward with it he didn’t want to at all and just looked for Ralston and Hart all the time.
But we still looked good going forward and Yang had a nice cameo with the Maeda chance and did well for the final goal then. Interesting to see Holm ahead of Hatate. He wasn’t on long before the third and was very nice on the ball after that.
The new centre back and AJ coming back will improve our football out of the back (and hopefully our defending). Can’t be relying on Kyogo to play 85 minutes every game while Oh is injured though.
