Abortion Referendum Thread

The side pushing (now and in the past) for abortion to be outlawed are religious nutters, Opus Dei, Iona Institute, etc. Anyone who thinks it through, even if they are personally opposed to abortion, would not dictate their opinions on others. No means supporting legislation that is completely unenforceable, so the idiots here are people voting no.

A national TV debate about a crucial referendum is not a Munster hurling championship game where managers can name a dummy team and then change it before throw in.

Sherlock was nominated by the No side. If she didn’t turn up, tough shit. The No side are very lucky that RTE didn’t go ahead with the debate with Mary Higgins included, as she should have been, and a tub of lard or Clint Eastwood’s empty chair instead of Sherlock.

Ascough is fucking vile.

What crazy planet do you live on? Indifference is by far the most common, otherwise why aren’t 3,500 men a year travelling to England with the women they impregnated? Or starting a campaign to force women to have their babies and allow them support them through adulthood.

There’s a lot of latent women haters here, not just the obvious ones.

What?

Id love to be the mate in a Maria Steen/Katie Anscough sandwich

unenforceable.

She’s pretty hot though.

It hasn’t been enforced in Ireland?

“Women are buying medicine online to kill babies and we cant stop it, so lets make killing babies legal”

How many women has it stopped having abortions? Provide evidence. Especially in this day and age when the abortion pill works up to 10 weeks.

This is an English language debate I’m having with you rather than an abortion debate. If a woman tells a man who impregnated her that she’s pregnant he is going to have some kind of opinion on it, whether he makes it known or not. He’s not going to hear the news in one ear and then it goes straight out the other with absolutely no thoughts on it

What the fuck are you talking about? Why repeal it so? It is cleary enforced in this country.

Because the no side want her to be. Why does impartial rte not want that?

She was on last week.

Sherlock was supposed to be on but cynically pulled out (not surprising seeing how Harris performed, he would have destroyed her).

The No crowd cannot dictate who appears on these shows.

Or the yes side just wasn’t able for her?

Vol. SiomĂłn Mac Annraoi was unreal there.

Up the Ra.

You can’t spell repeal with the ra.

Cora Sherlock was the nominated speaker for the No campaign. Why did the No campaign pull her out three hours beforehand?

Why should a speaker who has appeared numerous times on RTE during the campaign including the showcase Claire Byrne Live debate last week be allowed on again at the last minute when she was not nominated?

The whole point of a campaign is that you are supposed to provide different voices, not the same voice over and over and over again. Steen has had more than her say - the obligation is on the No campaign to provide a different voice.

They were not capable of this. Their problem is they’ve now completely run out of “house” women. That’s not a surprsie given that the platform they’re running their campaign on is a fringe, extreme view.

This was an obvious and blatantly cynical pre-arranged set piece to claim yet more imagined victimhood by bogusly claiming “censorship”. It has only made them look like fools.

Their campaign is imploding and it’s hilarious.

Sherlock is toxic. She insisted that a pregnant 12-year-old be forced to carry a pregnancy to term when Tusla were seeking to bring her to the uk to end the pregnancy. She’d have to justify that, and that’s what people would remember…

What gives you that impression?
