Kev gets asked for evidence for everything around here and fellas are happy to take god on trust

Are you drawing parallels between Kev and God?

No, only God draws parralels between himself and kev.

On the third day God made Kev and Kev said, “Naw fella, you just don’t get it” and proceeded to educate God on the finer points of life.

This didn’t happen.

So you think that countries like China and India have an imbalance of the sexes by chance?

Me? Not angry at all pal. Just calling out the extreme pro abortion lobby the odd time.

On a different note it seems that Coronation St has upset a lot of them this week with their story on a child that was born at 23 weeks. Currently a child born at that stage of pregnancy is not given a death cert or a birth cert because to do so would interfere with the pro abortion sides definition of a child and they would have to reduce the legal limit at which a child can have its heart injected to kill it and be pulled from its mother piece by piece.

The pro abortion lobby are a vile shower of cunts all the same.

Friend of the forum una mulally is crowd funding a book to help repeal the 8th. I urge all forumites to get on board. For as little as a 400 Euro donation Una will give you a feminist walking tour of Dublin. What’s not to love. If that’s a bit steep for you she will send you a copy of a book she likes for 150Euro. If you are feeling especially inspired she will print your name on the book for 5090euro. What a bargain.

God bless Una she’s a credit to the nation.

Sickening.

A girl deemed to be at risk of suicide who wanted an abortion was sectioned under the Mental Health Act because her treating psychiatrist said terminating the pregnancy was “was not the solution”.
The case is one of 22 reported by the Child Care Law Report Project, published this morning.
In the case, which was before the courts last year, an order was made to detain the girl on the evidence of a psychiatrist who said that while the child was at risk of self-harm and suicide as a result of the pregnancy, “this could be managed by treatment and that termination of pregnancy was not the solution for all the child’s problems at this stage”.
A few days later, however, a second psychiatrist said although the “young girl” presented as being depressed “there was no evidence of a psychological disorder”.

‘Strong views’
“As the young girl did not have a mental illness she could not be detained under the Mental Heath Act. The consultant psychiatrist also reported that the young girl had very strong views as to why she wanted a termination of her pregnancy.”
The court also heard from the young girl’s treating adolescent psychiatrist who had last seen her the day before the detention application.
“He was of the opinion that while the young girl remained agitated and angry, she did not suffer from an acute mental health disorder that warranted her detention under the Mental Health Act 2001. The consultant adolescent psychiatrist said that there was an initial concern of self-harm and that she was very distressed to find out about the pregnancy.”
He said her mental health was difficult to ascertain on admission because both she and her mother had thought they were being transferred to Dublin for an abortion and she was very agitated when she found that she was being admitted to a mental health unit.

An abortion would have been performed under the terms of the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act. However, it seems the Act was not invoked, despite her having been deemed suicidal as a result of the pregnancy by the first psychiatrist. The Act, which came into force on January 1st, 2014, set out for the first time the circumstances where abortion can be carried out - where there is a “real and substantial” risk to the life of the pregnant woman or girl, including by suicide. According to the Act, a pregnant woman or girl who is expressing suicidal thoughts and seeking an abortion may have one if three medical practitioners, including two psychiatrists, have “jointly certified in good faith” that there is a real and substantial risk to her life by suicide which can only be averted by an abortion.
At issue before the court in this case, according to the report, was whether the girl could be detained under the Mental Health Act. Though he was not obliged to, the District Court judge in the first hearing appointed a guardian ad litem (GAL), under the Child Care Act. The judge could have decided it was correct that she be detained in an mental health unit. The appointment of the GAL, however, ensured her voice was heard, that a second psychiatrist saw her and she was assessed as sane.
The judge was satisfied the girl did not suffer from a mental health disorder and that she was entitled to be discharged from the mental health unit.

It’s a very difficult issue. Can a psychiatrist be criticised for not wanting someone who is not in their normal frame of mind (suicidal) to make a life changing decision such as abortion?

This particular case was handled awfully though, by basically committing the girl against her will and misleading her, and her mother, that they were being sent for an abortion.

Legalising it for anyone who wants it is the only sensible way forward.

The great irony in the whole thing being that many suicidal people who want to be committed are told there are no spaces available.

I’m not remotely religious.

I’m fascinated by your posts on this topic. It speaks to a profound sense of loss and sadness that you feel when you hear of countries screening for and aborting fetuses with DS. Taking your wonderful daughter and the impact she has had on your life into account, I can see why.

Isn’t that exactly what abortion is though? A destruction of potential. I consider it to be an utterly profound act, reflecting what Hitchens called the tragic conflict between potential and existing humans, and despise characters who can be so flippant about it.

On the other hand, I am all for euthanasia.

We have abortion already - You just need to be able to afford it + the price of a flight to London.

They need to rebrand the repeal campaign as “abortions for the poor”. We’d get it passed with 90%.

The heads on the 3 yokes.

Leo needs to learn how to sit in a chair properly. He looks like he’s trying to squeeze out a sneaky fart there.

Left in a boozer…

I’m trying to enjoy Christmas drinks. It’s a pain I have to meet people in a non business fashion, which I despise, but Christ…roll on January.

I check what’s happening in that repeal committee every once in a while. There’s some headbangers involved like Ronán Mullen, Mattie McGrath and Peter Fitzpatrick. The latter was Louth manager when Meath stole that Leinster Final from them but that’s beside the point. He said the other day that contraception ends a baby’s life and has had a series of mad interventions throughout.

I also see that FG TD Seán Kyne doesn’t want the committee to deliver its final report in the next couple of weeks as it would be disrespectful and too close to the birth of baby Jesus.
