A much anticipated tournament which deserves a thread here.
I’ll be supporting South Korea and my predictions are as follows:
Winners: South Korea
Player of the Tournament: Heung Min-Song (South Korea)

If Mooy plays that is, which is still the subject of some doubt.
Just read that he’s out.
Pity Israel weren’t allowed to take part in this
this is definitly one for the hipseter allright and twitter could be alive with woofisms for the slanty eyes
jesus - when you think of it - Asia is fucking massive- the likes of Lebanon and Saudi are on the same continent as the philipines - i suppose you have more Lebanese living in Australia then Lebanon…
the arab teams all play a similar style - morocco, saudi, tunisia but we obviouly wont see them all at this as for whatever geograhical reasons Indonesia is on the same continent as Saudi - probably should have an arab championship really
can anyone update with groups, times , venues , etc - ill see if world soccer have anything on it in januarys edition if i can pick it up
w/o knowing anything
in backing uzbekistan
Hon Japan
Unlikely to get out of a tricky group with Iran, Iraq and Yemen, but I’ll be throwing my support behind Vietnam for this one, purely on the excellent holiday I had there.
Using similar logic: F*ck China
Per MOTD sven hasn’t taken the cardiff keeper Etheridge with the philipines squad to this .
This lad is a great keeper and I wonder why he was omitted?
Qatar have won the Asian Cup, beating South Korea on the way and Japan in the final. Scored 18 goals conceding just one, a consolation goal for Japan in the final. Brilliant achievement, mainly Qatari born players too
no brazilians called Mohommed so?
Their main man who scored 9 goals in the Asian Cup was born in Sudan but moved to Qatar as a young child. UAE had an appeal against them in for him and another player apparently being ineligible and they only got cleared a few hours before the final
You’re normally more horrified by these petro-state trophy teams
Its not the player’s faults that they are from a horrible country. I don’t know enough about the backgrounds of the lads born outside Qatar to have an opinion on that matter
Explaining… as the man says
Jordan 2-0 up against the heavy favourites South Korea with 23 minutes to go.
