AFL 2021

pretty poor alright. As far as I recall, there is a tiered salary set up where you have a couple of top players only on the tier 1 level, and then the majority below and then another tier. I had thought there was 4 tiers of it. The average wage is about $20k. That equates to about €12.5k. Season itself is January to April. Preseason probably for about 2 months before that start, so maybe 5-6 months total. Irish girls there I’m assuming get accommodation and expenses covered too. you wouldnt get rich off it, but sure its a handy free holiday in decent weather.

You’d imagine those going out there must be getting financially well looked after elsewhere. It’s kind of like the children of rich families who follow their hobbies and pursuits rather than building a career because they don’t have to worry about the financial implications of not building a career.

yeah sure they are probably still in college or working a handy enough job they can take time off. Plenty of time for career shit in your 30s. Live life now and enjoy it.

Yeah they are dead right to go out now while they can.

Plenty time to take up teaching in their 30’s.

Good luck trying to buy a house in this day and age and set yourself up in life if you’re only starting to build your career in your 30s these days.

Generally the people who have the freedom to go off travelling the world in their 20s without bothering with their career have money behind them. Impossible without it.

Flicked on a game on BT between Melbourne and GWS Giants. Why is there hardly anyone there? 2 poor teams?
