They have basically the same team that easily topped the ladder two years ago who are all still in prime age profile, plus Charlie Curnow.
Having a down year can refresh a team. Sydney were showing serious signs at the back end of last year that they were back to their best but theyâd left it too late.
Collingwood missed finals in 2024 but were three or four games out in front at the top of the ladder by last June/July.
The only thing that might persuade me Sydney wonât top the ladder is if theyâre more interested in timing their run Brisbane style to peak later as peaking in the period up to July has proved a double edged sword for Sydney in 2024 and Collingwood in 2025 with a big drop off for both after that.
