Youtube video of McGeady below:
Smashing stuff. Good choice of music too might I add. I think I’ll email the link to Stephen Alkin so he can get Giles, Brady and Dunphy to have a quick peek before they go off attacking the kid again.
Just watched this again with the sound on full volume.
Tremendous stuff from the bhoy with the questionable hair.
Meant to say the other day. Watched the whole match again on Saturday morning while I was making that video and I’m revising Jan’s score up from a 6 to a 7. He put one on a plate for Brown and set up McDonald for his chance from the angle in the first half with a lovely flick. And he won plenty other than that in the air.
people are quick to praise mcgeady after one good game & I admit it was a very good game ( although doubts still remain about his final ball) but he played well against benfica last year ,didnt do much in the rest of the champions league - he was average against milan & not sure if he played against shaktar- he has also been terrible for the ole ole team- needs more big games against decent teams rather than turning it on against queen of the south etc etc- this is a big year for him- hope he can live up to expectations
Oh good God Raven what a shocking week you’re having at the wind-ups. McGeady didn’t play in the win against Benfica last year. He came on in the 3-0 defeat in Lisbon with 25 minutes to go.
He was excellent against Milan (Celtic’s best player by consensus).
I konw you’re just spouting bullshit that you don’t truly believe but even crap like that could do with a little research because your knowledge of soccer (even the team you support) is far from encyclopaediac.

Sounds about right to me

Did you read the post between raven’s and your’s?
I did yeah.
must have been copenhagen he played well against - even worse
didnt do anything of note for the rest of the champions league culminating in a poor game in Milan
As for the recent game with Milan - he put in a hard shift- nothing to write home about - certainly not man of the match
http://www.etims.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1983&Itemid=29
has been terrible for Irelans & apart from the benfica home game & a pub team from denmark he has been poor against opposition of note- too easily pushed off the ball

Oh so you were wrong. Good man.
Is playing well against Copehagen worse than not playing against Benfica?
He had an excellent game in Milan as I’ve already said.
You were at the MIlan home match - why rely on etims to form your opinion for you? I agree he was mixed that night.
So far wrong it’s funny. And you’re too stubborn to just let this thread die.
in Milan he had an excellant game??
he was man of the match in the san siro???
too stubborn to let this slide??? my point is & I assume that a lot of non british hoops fans will agree with me is that apart from the odd game for Celtic against decent teams he has been generally bad against decent teams- woeful for Ireland , worst player on the pitch in a couple of games for Ireland, in the champions league he has been poor for Celtic too- he may shine against dumbarton but for all the praise heaped on him here you would think he has done a lot more than he actually has. his final ball is poor & he is easily pushed off the ball. this needs to adressed & your pedantic nitpicking here doesnt change these all too obvious facts about him
Raven, rather than just spitting out the same old uninformed crap (that I’ve proven to be wholly wrong already on this thread) why don’t you give some specific examples relating to Celtic.
To help you I’ll remind you of the Champions League games he has played well in:
- Home to Milan in 2004 - Celtic’s man of the match and by far the closest we came to creating chances that night in a game we needed to win.
Celtic weren’t in the CL in 2005/06
-
Home to Copenhagen in 2006 - Excellent performance: there’s a video of it on youtube
-
Home and away to Milan in 2006/07 two top quality performances when he was our biggest threat on the ball. Outshone Naka twice who was in the form of his life.
-
Away to Benfica 2007/08 - Celtic’s best player by a mile
-
Home to Benfica 2007/08 - as above. Celtic’s best player by a mile.
one game in 04
home to copenhagen - wow
away to benfica to a certain extent- ran at them didnt really create much though
home to benfica- played well, lucky goal no telling crosses
thats the amount of games he has got pass marks/good in in. even in though games his final ball wasnt up to much, hje has quick feet but needs to do deserve the praise he gets- his final ball isnt up to much & as for his performances for Ireland
in all his champions league games for Celtic what has he done of note, deflected goal against benfica. dont even remember too many assists for goals so can you give examples
Raven here’s a suggestion. Only post again on this thread when you have actual examples. I’ve mentioned 6 games that McGeady has played in the Champions League for Celtic and on all 6 occasions he was Celtic’s best attacking player.
You don’t have any examples to contradict that so there’s no point in you debating it any further. You’re only embarrassing yourself.
Rocko- here is a tip- instead of backing your opinions with … opinions , give me examples
he got 1 lucky deflected goal against benfica
tell me about some assists he has or other incidents of note that he has been involved in since 2004 in the champions league - the critism many have of him is his final ball so please give me som examples of where he has proved the critics wrong
Still nothing from you. I imagine you have another Internet Explorer window open and you’re frantically scanning websites trying to find a record of Champions League games McGeady played in. Good luck with your search.
In the meantime I’ve provided 6 examples where McGeady was the best attacking Celtic player on the park in the Champions League. You can’t disagree with any of them so you’re asking for assists. There’s more to soccer than that Raven. Possession is crucial to Celtic (especially in away matches) and in the Estadio da Luz and in the Giuseppe Meazza in particular McGeady kept onto the ball very well.
Just let the thread die Raven. You’re only compounding your errors. You can’t find important Celtic games where he didn’t play well and it’s killing you.
so you have no examples of a decent final ball by this winger in champins league football since 2004
a damning statistic
Wrong again wraven I have plenty of examples. Just waiting for you to present your case. Seems like I’ll be waiting forever though.
