Could be quite the match now. No breaks in the first but Novak was looking a lot more comfortable on serve and it felt at times that Roger was just hanging in.

Simply sensational from Roger. 5-2 down in the 4th set and he breaks Novak twice reeling off 5 games on the trot to take the 4th set 7-5.

Huge effort from Novak there in Game 8. Three break points but Roger ultimately holds for 4-4. Difficult to call a winner but the longer it goes on, the 6 year age difference will probably become more pronounced.

Bar that incredible purple patch for Roger in the 4th, Novak did seem to have a slight edge all the way through.
Rogerās greatness was only enhanced today in that epic. Thatās his last chance of winning the record 8th though. At nearly 34, next year, it wonāt happen.

Fair play to Federer on taking him to 5 sets at his age when Djokovic has played some great tennis this tournament.
Disappointed for fed, fair play to Novak. He deserved that after loosing his last 3 grand slams losses.
Novak is a worthy champion. He had a very tricky path. Stepanek, Simon & Tsonga were all possible banana skins in Round 2, 3 & 4 and he was pushed all the way by Cilic, Dimitrov and Roger from the quarter finals on.
