All Hail John Delaney

Dug this up, @caoimhaoin knew the story.

Was John Delaney good buddies with Pat Hickey?

what story?

I don’t have to tell you explaining is losing.

+1.

“Senior executive has business interests”.

I suppose the point here might be that there would be an expectation that a CEO on 360k per year would devote himself full time to the organization and not have outside business interests.

The FAI were paying his rent so he could invest money in other ventures… sickening.

My expectation is that a senior executive is likely to have investments. It doesn’t seem to have adversely impacted on the FAI based on the tremendous results for the U19s, U21s and Senior Men this week.

Bandage and all the other pocket capitalists will be along to defend him shortly.

Any idea what the BIK on 36,000 in rent would be? (I genuinely don’t). Is it a way more tax efficient way of getting wages out of a company?

We struggled against lowly Gibraltar … John steps down and hey presto, within 72 hours we play champagne football … I dont think this is a coincidence.

No.
But is is helpful when you have had a salary cut.

At this marginal rate plus Er PRSI.

There would be no Er PRSI if he qualifies as a propriety director. Even Delaney couldn’t manage that in a CLG.

What marginal rate? Assuming he’s on full whack higher rate of tax it’d be nearly 80 grand to get out the 36grand. Is tax on BIK way lower. Asking for a friend.

Does anyone know how his salary compares to similar roles within similar sized football associations? Obviously comparing with say Italy or Spain would be ludicrous as they would be much larger organisations.

40 + 4 + 8 for Mr. Delaney.

I don’t know but there is a paradox here in that a small association such as the FAI need to pay premium to attract a commensurate talent . Unless we have quality we will be eaten alive by the piranhas.

Wow! That’s outrageous. So we should all be paying for cars and rent as BIK.

When you net off the €5m he brought in from FIFA then he hasn’t taken a cent from Irish football in over a decade.

Are the FAI paying a premium for his services? A premium in comparison to what?
