All Ireland club finals in January

Read it been mooted in the examiner today. Surely be a good move. Paddy’s day too long to wait.

It’s St Patrick’s Day fucko.

Only a few counties play Spud hockey, how is it an all Ireland?

@Perez2017

What counties would they be, pal?

All the counties in Munster excluding Kerry and Limerick and kk galway and Wexford

There’s teams from Derry, Dublin and Limerick in the semi finals, bro —

I don’t see why it makes any difference about the club finals. So few players involved.

I’d say it’s as much for the club teams themselves who really don’t get any break at seasons end as there is no end, they pretty much merge into each other. Most provincial finals are done by November, so you’ve 3 and a half months then to play the semi final followed by the final.

Senior finals are early/mid December.

The weather is horrendous in January. I think Paddys day is a great show piece.

For the amount of times clubs get there it makes fuck all difference.

Banning county players from the third level comps would be a good idea though.

Assume that would open another can of worms as they would not be scholarship eligible if they can’t play third level

I think this is a reasonable idea. Club commitments dragging on until St Patricks day interferes with the senior county panels prep and focus for league and Championship.

There’ll always be something.

I thought the whole rejigging of the intercounty Championships was so that the Club finals could be played within the calendar year.
