Hearty congrats to Tipp. Can make both sides of the argument about the red easily enough. The less said about the incident the better though. It’s a rabbit hole of noise. I don’t think we’d have won with 15 v 15. Tipp were hugely dominant in the air in the second half. I reckon the levee would have broken at some point either way. Fair play to our lads, they tried their best but it wasn’t happening for them.
Seamus Callanan finally gets his HOTY award and it’s thoroughly deserved. Astonishing goal scoring and made one today too.
All I’m saying is Wexford are the county with the biggest cause for regret. They still led Tipperary by a point after 71 minutes and were a badly executed Matthew O’Hanlon pass away from what would probably have been the insurance point. Wexford would have easily beaten Kilkenny today.
Limerick lost 3 of their 6 championship matches and I’d have severe doubts as to whether they’d have beaten Tipperary today if they’d got there.
A clinical and better Kilkenny team would have buried Tipperary in first 20 minutes. The tide had turned with the O’Meara goal and I feel Tipperary would have been easy winners even against 15.
A very disappointing end to a fine year for us. Chipp would have done us even if we had 15 but christ we could have been a bit smarter with the ball we were hitting in that second half.
Brainless altogether.
Wexford will have more regrets than anyone from this season, followed closely by Limerick.
