Biggest game in the provincial series, hurling or football, over and it not even May. As usual it didn’t disappoint though, nothing like the Mayo/Galway rivalry for living up to expectations. Incredible the difference between the natural footballers on display in Castlebar compared to the effort it took to do simple tasks in Donegal earlier - admittedly most of them natural footballers were in maroon.

We don’t fuck about with that defensive shite and make no bones about it either.

Really stupid shot to take, Galway were out on their feet, should have worked it back across for a better chance or work a free

They give him some slagging when that happens.

More often than not a soft free is given in situations similar to those today. Orme’s inexperience shone through taking on a less than 50% chance.

@RedHandHuns i see the Sligo v Roscommon game has been brought forward a day.

Any particular reason for this ?

Exactly. Get the ball to centre, run at a mans shoulder, throw yourself down. Free.

Qualifiers should be a bear pit this season with the quality enhanced and the quantity reduced.

An outstanding suggestion @Iggy

Request from the Guards to avoid Sligo races and subsequent traffic congestion on the 1st May

As other poster said cops looked for it to be changed due to Sligo races been on same day. A bit ridiculous it was left so close to the date change when it was known ages ago both were on the same day

Down and Derry both making their first appearance this year in Ulster this weekend, both likely to be beaten. Next year’s stats will show Down with 5 wins in a decade, Derry with 1. It used to be a competitive province.

Between 1999 and 2010 inclusive two counties won the Ulster championship. Between 2015 and 2021 inclusive four counties won it.

Ulster seems pretty competitive to me.

Armagh and Derrys record is embarrassing from that stat

Seems Ulster is only marginally more competitive than Leinster. No excuse for the failure of the champions to beat Dublin on a regular basis.

Atrocious, and yet the line about Ulster being a dogfight where anyone can beat anybody else will be trotted out again. Donegal were All-Ireland winners in 2012 but for most of the decade have been an ordinary enough outfit, 27 wins for them tells you plenty on the state of things.
