The thing is, while this game will be intriguing, I’m not sure this ultra-deep defending will allow Donegal to beat the very best teams which is what they should surely be aiming for.
To beat Dublin or Kerry or whoever, you need to be able to go man-to-man against them.

Donegal’s shooting is ultra-constipated.
Derry are making space with ease when they attack.
Derry getting through the cover quite easily. A lot of Donegal bodies back there not doing anything in particular, got lucky with the wide.
Donegal are terribly coached.

Donegal will be relatively happy with that scoreline, all things considered. Haven’t really got going and only a goal down.
Langan couldn’t get goal off his mind there when he knew there was no chance and the point was the only option. Confusion leads to those sort of blazing high and wide finishes. Bryan Walsh of Mayo in last year’s All-Ireland was a classic of the genre.
