In addition to the quality young players Horan has brought through, Coen emerging as a real leader and dependable player is a huge plus for Mayo from this championship. Wouldnât surprise me if heâs captain next year.

Horan is a great manager for blooding young player. Way more so than others.
Still thought Keith Higgins should have been brought in today.
Higgins is a warrior,if Horan thought he could still do it heâd have put him on

Not sure Higgins has much left. Came on against Galway and nearly lost the game for them. Mayo backs arenât the issue anyway

The one player Mayo could have done with today was Jason Doherty. He can score, reliable in possession and could have done a bit when Dublin were getting in top in middle third in the second half.
Hopefully he makes it back for next year because I think this team will have a better shot at it next year.

It seems to me Horan is looking at 2024/25 as much as 2020. Bring through three or four new players each year and immerse them in the culture which has driven Mayo for the last decade. A seamless transition while staying near the top. Once you drift away from the top tier itâs bloody difficult to get back and itâs getting more difficult by the year. A lot of that culture actually stems from the people in Mayo though. Theyâre obsessed with their county team in a way others just arenât.

Horanâs biggest blot on his copy book was taking Higgins from the forwards in 2013 and bringing him back corner back to mark Eoghan bloody OâGara.
It cost them an All Ireland that year I think.
