If ever there was a final to win to sum up Mayo this is it - no fans ,no cup to bring home …they’ll surely win

Are Mayo capable of a score north of 25 points against this Dublin team?
3-16 or thereabouts will be the minimum for success because given the performance of Mayo 1-9 against Tipp you’d feel 26/30 points are within Dublin’s grasp.
Like it or not but it’s the Dubs by approaching 10 for me.

The only glimmer of hope is if dubs are undercooked from not having a real competitive game in 15 months …there’s a few new additions in that Dublin team who’ve never been really tested …things start going wrong and you’re bringing on the likes of Howard and Mannion to find a bit of form from nowhere as they have only played bit parts thus far…unlike other teams that Dublin faced one thing about Mayo is that they’ll keep coming no matter what Dublin do…and you’d expect the gap in their defence that was evident against Tipp will be addressed…

Addressing your final line, the gaps in their defence… These gaps were against, with all respect, a D3 team who just hadn’t the clinical knock-out punch. Doubtless Horan will address the issue but the surging blue hordes on Saturday aren’t greenhorns, they’re an accomplished finishing machine… Dubs 4-21 Rhubarbs 1-14.

I thought you were fond of a bit of romanticism @Boxty? It looks like I’m shaping up to watch this with a couple of brothers in law… one of whom is a mayo chap. Neither of us hold back. It’ll be carnage either way.
With regards the game, I think Mayo will come hard again in the way that only they do but theyve given up an awful lot of goal chances against Galway and Tipp. And their shooting v Galway was as poor as ever. Dublin, while untested have been clinical and their back line looked tight enough v Cavan. I just dont think Dublin have gone backwards enough or Mayo have gone forwards enough. My only worry is that Dublin have been so casual and eschewed scoring goals because points were so easy that when they need em, they may be rusty.
Verdict: The house wins by about 6/7 and CoC gets the line like he’s deserved so many times the dirty fucker.

Every fibre of my being would love Mayo to cross the line as would 31 other counties and a fair shot of fair weather Dublin supporters cc: Ms Pox.

I really can’t see it happening. Horan is one dimensional and builds his team around dynamic pace and a strong start and holding out from there. The matches vs Ros/Gal/Tipp hold true to form there . He is unable to deviate from the norm.
Rochford was much more nuanced in his approach to games. Moran a sweeper vs Tipp, O Se man marking Donaghy. Dillon vs Tyrone

Dublin will easily see through his gameplan and play accordingly.

Christ I’d really love it if I was wrong

I’d be worried Dessie won’t have a clue how to figure this thing out if Mayo get ahead.

Up Dublin…

That group manage themselves.

Absolutely. An rud is annamh is iontach.

They said that yesterday about Waterford.

I hope Mayo win. Although they have a serious arsehole on their team in O’Connor. He’s like Cora fucking Staunton. Pissing and whinging all the time. Can’t crack a fucking smile. Hon Mayo.

Dublin have decided to let Mayo win just so people will shut the fuck up for a few months.

That would be the fear alright. Mayo defence are porous as sieves. The last great Mayo defender of his territory was Padraig Nally and even he was accused of being overly aggressive in the role.
