I’d have great admiration for Limerick hurlers and fair play to them for their recent success. Dublin football is in danger of making football a non-entity at the highest level though. Leinster isn’t a competitive championship and only Mayo and Kerry have come close to Dublin in the last 5 years. They haven’t lost a championship game since August 2014. If it continues then people will lose interest( Not the Dublin players faults to be fair).

No one has said it’s the only reason. There are lots of reasons.

You said the money helps, it’s a contributory factor. Good. That’s progress.

Logistical advantages another factor? Sure.

Population? Sure.

Playing all your games at home? Absolutely.

Are the odds stacked in Dublin’s favour? Clearly yes.

Are Dublin still a great team? Also, clearly yes.

It’s easy for Dublin players to work harder than the rest.

They are very well looked after. They don’t have to travel half the country for training, along with a full time job and other financial commitments.

Dublin were tremendous fun during the 00’s and were box office. There was always drama involved and I think most neutrals were quite happy for them when they finally got over the line in 2011. That goodwill is long since gone now and it’s hard not to hold a certain amount of resentment about the way things have gone though. The championship is becoming very much a chore for the neutrals.

I’d say if you could still handpass the ball into the net in hurling then they’d have a serious team. They’re experts at creating 2 on 1’s with a keeper in football and palming it in(probably down to their conditioning).
