It was the end of Galway as a hurling refereeing force. Actually it wasn’t as Galway’s contribution to hurling refereeing pretty much never began.
Cork, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Wexford, Limerick, Clare, Waterford, Dublin, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow have all provided referees for All-Ireland finals since Galway last did.
No wonder the Galway hurling championship is the playground of cowardly thugs.
