Crucially they won replays by upping their game & probably the fear they instilled in opponents
No argument there, Tipp could’ve easily scored 6-35 that day
Tipp were shit at penalties well before that rule came in
So that makes a rule change mid season ok then.

I’ve taken the opportunity to watch the1994 Connacht final again. 'Twas great to win after a catastrophic start but it must have been one of the worst finals of all time.
Mayo were shocking, both on the field and on the line. We were equally melodeon. A handful of ours stood out, Honeyman, Darcy, Kenny, Mickey Quinn and at a push Rooney and Donoghue.
Horror shows from Flanagan, McGlynn, Conlon. Weak passes for Moran and Dugdale.
The few days following though were epic. .

I was at the game in the upper canal and in the first half I remember thinking was the first time I saw both full back and full forward marking each other having stormers with jj delaney marking callinan.
