But since CD has put his inital bet on PP. Again how is he going to get $12,500 to cover his liability on Betfair.
Didnt know that Betfair count potential winnings to cover potential liability. Are you absolutely sure Runt?
Potential winnings covers potential liablity on the same bet.
Once there’s only two potential outcomes, it makes sense. You have 100 on to win at 120.
There are two outcomes. Wexford win or wexford lose.
You now have a potential winning of 120k.
You can now lay against that 120kon the other outcome. i.e. Wexford to lose.
You obviously can’t use the 120k on wexford as cover for potential liablities on other bets.
I hadn’t realised that he initally placed the bet with PP. That obviously would then require him to have the 12k in his betfair account to cover the potential loss.

I’m assuming I’ll have to cover the 12k if it comes to that.
Do you know if there is a way to get Betfair to acknowlegde my bet on PP and allow me the same covered potential liability?
I doubt it but you never know…
ya…I backed United to win the Champions League last year before xmas @ 11/2 and they settled with me before the final for half the money. (Chelsea were evens to lift the trophy with them)
I would have made more money if I had done it through Betfair but I didn’t actually have the money at the time and didn’t want to go to the hassle of borrowing, only to pay it back within a week or so.
Would that happen much TT? Where Paddy Power would settle with a punter before the outcome was known?
e.g. you had 2 legs of a potential massive treble up that they would contact you asking if you’d like to settle the bet (for a lesser amount) before the 3rd leg was run?

That’s interesting.
Betfair said:
“Unfortunately it is not possible as we can not acknowledge your bets on different betting site”
I was just on to Paddy Power to see if they could do anything for me. Thoroughly unhelpful.
I asked them about what you mentioned TT* about the sell the bet back to them at a later date and they said they don’t do that.
Did they approach you last year or did you approach them?
Mac, they say I can’t void my bet now that I’ve placed it. So that’s out as well.
It’s no biggie. As I said earlier, it might be an issue if it happens but it would be a nice problem to have.
Ya - It would happen a good bit with accums. Lads might be waiting on one leg and they would ring up and see if they could settle. It would be the traders decision but I can’t remember anyone ever getting knocked back.
I contacted them and to be fair I’d be known to the trading room, but they didn’t give me any special treatment. It was good business for PP at the time as they laid me a substantial credit bet on Chelsea @ evens when they were trading at 2.12 on Betfair (before commission).
