Any further info?
It was a challenge match, surely that’s all you need to know
Clare play Kilkenny next Sunday at 6.30pm at the opening of James Stephens’ new pitch.
Cork looked ahead in terms of preparation. paidi o’sullivan and harnedy came on in second half and made it look easy.
Who did Cork play at 6?
Hardly matters does it? All options are mediocre half-backs masquerading as inter-county center-backs.
Suppose you don’t have a score/teams? Thanks for the info btw.
Score was 1-26 to 1-23 - it was very windy which sort of spoiled it - at half time Dublin led 0-18 to 1-7 after playing with a very strong wind.
Very physical game. Cian McCarthy had a great game. Dublin looked to have a fair few “first choice” players starting - Cork seemed to have most of their first choice on the bench and brought on a few in second half.
Cork panel looks to have a lot more depth than a year ago. If they get lucky with injuries they will have a decent run. Hard to read much into Dublin as they are still a while away from championship. I think there are five or six teams now who will all think they can beat any of the others on their day which is great for hurling. Also depends on how games are refereed - KK suffered last year as referees were stricter.
Corks age profile suggest they will improve, who played at 3 for them?
IMO they are the best value bet (PP prices) for the AI. My big doubt about them was the impact on them of Cunningham’s departure, he was the main man wrt training and preparation. Seems like it was minimal…the Cork Clare (assuming Cork beat Waterford) will be interesting as it will give a good gauge as to the relative positions v last year. But realistically its not important as both side are likely to make the last 4. They were also very easy to score against, will be interesting to see if them have done something systematic in that regard. I think Tipp and Galway are the others open to most improvement on last year.
KK seem to have re-emerged as AI favs which I just do not understand to be honest. They will possibly blow somebody away in the early games but I suspect will be caught on the hard ground intensity of august. Having re-looked at the league final, it was remarkable the impact Richie Hogan and frees (TJ Reid) had on the outcome, gone are the days where KK will put up a quick match winning score ( Brennan, Shefflin, Larkin, Fogarty) and they created very few goal scoring chances.which means they will be reduced more and more to point for point battles. which brings freshness and pure drive more into play. This is why Cody is so focusing on getting legs back into his defense, but outside of P Walsh he has failed. And we have some very fast improvers now in an environment where the gaps between top 6 has dramatically closed. I think it will be more difficult for Limerick and Dublin this year.

Thats a pretty accurate post of where things are at.
Cork have lost Murphy since last year and when guys like him step back it can have a big effect on the confidence levels in a back 6.
Cork have done a lot better than I thought they would in the last 2 yrs but I still cant see them driving on from last yr
- Management don’t do tactics. Every side we play at this stage withdraw their forwards hoping to isolate 1 or 2 forwards in the fullforward line we always fall for it. Even John Mullane in The Indo gets it.
- Injuries are fcuking up the dual play experiment. Personally would like to see Cads /AW in the halfback line but they’ve no hurling done.
- We don’t have 1 proven All Star standard halfback in the panel.
Management, tactics aside, have done a great job but Cork were at maximum capacity to do as well as they did last yr I don’t see where the huge improvements are going to come from.
I assume Lar Corbett is being held back as some form of trump card by O’Shea and he will be unleashed in a cameo when the ground hardens up???
How bad is the knee injury? Is he playing for Sarsfields?

He came on for Sars yesterday near the end of their game
Same re B Hogan for KK. There is no way Jackie Tyrell will survive at 6, it will be a 2005 like P Barry destruction

Please God he will start against us on the June Weekend. His powers have been n the slide dramatically in the past few years. Always strikes me as the kind of lad that will crucify a team when things are going well, but when the team is up against it he goes hiding. Callinan is the same type of hurler with the same problem. When you hear of Tipp hoping Lar and Kelly will be ready for Limerick in the first round you start to wonder. Seeing John O’Brien come on the last day aswell. With all respect to these three excellent hurlers, i think the game has kind of passed them by at this stage, their time has come and gone.
Limerick will go to Thurles on the June weekend with zero pressure and expectations after recent events. Yet they are reigning Munster Champions having beaten Tipp and Cork last year, both convincingly. In the heat of championship with the Limerick backs breathing down the necks of the likes of Corbett, Callinan and to a certain extent Noel McGrath, you’d have to wonder will they have the stomach for the fight. Because one thing is for sure, Limerick will, no matter what has gone on.
That was an @carryharry-esque funny rating from @Horsebox there. Unbecoming of him really. You would expect Horsebox, of all posters, to cut a newish poster some slack, but instead he opted to score cheap points. Disappointing.
I dont need any slack cut from a cunt like Horsebox. If he wants to take me on he knows where to find me. Nothing funny about my point whatsofuckingever. Tipp are proven windy bastards. It’s simple science. And i’ll fight carryharry any time any where under any rules.
It’s shaping up to be a great summer of hurling and by extension an exciting time to be a paid up member of tfk.com
Some of the nonsense on here last year before Limerick’s dismantling by Clare still makes me chortle
- It was funny.
- He’s not a new poster.
- Fuck off.

Have you any opinions yourself fuckhead or are you going to go day to day saying nothing of relevance? Where do you wanna fight me?
