Yes they just take a four month break as Iâve said. Get rid of the league and itâs simple to have 3 weeks between championship games. Give clubs a mini break in July or August and lay out their championship fixtures alongside the inter county games. It is very easy to get right.
They should just scrap the link with club altogether and make Intercounty professional. Lads good enough to be hurling for their county wouldnât need to be worrying about the club then and vice versa. Thatâs the only end game in all of this and we all know it
Andy Moran was Footballer of the Year in 2017 at almost 34 years of age and is still going strong at not far off 36
Keith Higgins and Colm Boyle arenât far behind him
Brian Dooher was still a key man for Tyrone at 36
Stephen Cluxton is 38 in December
Bernard Brogan is still on the Dublin panel
Denid Bastick went on into his mid 30s
The Kerry team of the 2000s had a load of players who went on into their mid 30s - Marc and Tomas OâSe, Kieran Donaghy, Aidan OâMahony, Eoin Brosnan, Paul Galvin, Donncha Walsh etc.
I presume you mean 2002 until 2007 Geoff
I like the new round robin system but it makes the league defunct. In limerick they take this crazy break from club hurling for many months for no reason. In Kilkenny they work alongside the inter county fixtures which is the way it should be.
Read the title of the thread
Wrong thread bro
I completely disagree with that. I can only speak from my experience but lads are actually happier with the current format.
Itâs far from perfect but itâs so much better than before when youâd have 4 matches in 10 days if you were a dual club.
Very few serious injuries related to dirt anyway
Gaelic football requires a higher standard of fitness than hurling
Your point was just a cliche
There has never been a time when people werenât spouting the cliche that âitâs a young manâs game nowâ
Yet they never produce evidence for this
As I said. Read the title of the thread. Iâm not going to be drawn into an argument between football and hurling.
How would you lay out their championship fixtures alongside the intercounty games in a way that doesnât depend on how the county team do?
Iâve already said this April thing is a joke
No rebuttal I see, cheers
Thereâs no argument. Two completely different games.
The fact that you posted on the wrong thread means no rebuttal is needed
You canât unless thereâs absolute certainty that a county team will be playing on known dates and those known dates only
Thatâs impossible unless you run the championship as a pure league
Deary me
Outside managers must be getting some money. Start training in January, and even if youâre shite youâll have 9 months of trainings to fill your bank account
Thatâs my point
Yes, but they do generate new young players.
