Galway were tripe today. All three Limerick goals were the result of mistakes by Galway backs. Hanbury and McInerney shouldnât have been near the team. Hanbury had stopped trying half way through the second half.
Their touch was brutal. Muls last point was due to a failure by the back to control a ball that he had won. It was symptomatic of Galway all day.
And this putting in an effort in trash time when the game is lost is the biggest signifier of a cowardly outfit in sport.
have you ever seen Canning âwinâ ball tho? honestly?
agreed on his performance for 45 odd minutes- he was anaonymous- however - the way he dragged a rabble from a 9pt deficity to 1 (ok notwithstanding the ability of the opposition to historically implode) was most impressive
Limerickâs forwardsâ gang tackling and endeavour has been instilled into them right from the start of the John Kiely reign. I got a shock seeing 18-year old Kyle Hayes putting Wexford defenders on their holes in Wexford Park in February last year, but that kind of determination and work rate has continued ever since. It was very notable against Tipperary in league and championship this season and very much so today too. An element of fouling in it but they stand up, hit hard and donât let anything out easy. The two second half goals can be attributed to it, along with several other turnovers over the course of the game.
Canning was hiding all thru the first half. The man marking him scored twice it was a disgraceful effort from him for that 35 minutes
Was handed 3 balls in open space then and tapped them over. He missed 2 frees and scored a few others and the 21 was hit well.
A complete pantomime of a hurler, when he cannot influence the referee Galway generally struggle. He couldnât today because he was chasing his tail from the start.
Youâre waiting 12 months for a bit of revenge. Enjoy it, as god knows you wonât see a waterford all ireland at any time soon.
Limerick lads here gracious in victory. Cunts from counties out months and who shrivel in front of this galway team now getting digs in. The tfk way i suppose.
When Canning was first put out around centre forward he was excellent at winning ball, for some reason he goes back staying on the outskirts of the game relying on being passed the ball now.
I donât have any time for lads who play like Canning does now or how Tony Kelly does, they stay on the outskirts of the game not being marked by anybody most of the time waiting for teammates to win the ball, do the hard work and then get handy points out on their own. This is all very well and good and its not really the players fault themselves as they are probably told to do this and when it goes well its fine but it results in them maybe not touching the ball for 20 minutes at a time if the ball isnât running right for them. Joe Canning would have been much more influential for Galway today if he got maybe 1 point from play but was competing under puckouts and stopping Hannon from sauntering forward on his own for points IMO
Atrocious. Worst display in years really, cocky maybe. Tired and carrying injuries definitely. Plus no game plan bar hammer it ot jonny who it was clear early wasmt going to get a free from owens and who limerick had easily marshalled. But not cowardly and battling back to be within one point is far from a few consolation scores.
