A shrewd man placed a bit with me on the second replay v Offaly the night after the match was played. I thought it was on the following day. I was seething worse than Lougnane
They stuttered a bit in 99. Needed replays to get past ourselves and Galway before Kilkenny knocked them out in semis. We gave them a decent trimming in 2000 down in Cork. Felt like a big win for us after a few horrid years against them. Had some day on the beer that day. Pints galore in Cork before and after match and was still at it in Easy Street in Nenagh at closing time. To be 18 again
The ball was there.
Doesnât matter, you donât assault a fella in the crown jewels under any circumstance
A savvy INTERNETTER wouldnât show their angst at Limerickâs victory so openly. Itâs very important to retain your composure at this stage, it looks like sour grapes otherwise. By all means, start chipping away by Thursday.
Again, I think it was mistimed/ misjudged rather than malicious.
What if heâs playing the bag pipes?
Weâll be done with Covid by the time Aussie can walk straight again
Still feel that Tipp will be in the shake-up. They swept up Minor and U20/21 titles with a very talented bunch who will be eager for games. Realistically Waterford reached the final without beating any of the top 3( Limerick, Galway, Tipp).
The quick turnaround will probably mean a lot of the stalwarts hang around for one more crack. Whether thatâs good or bad for them Iâm not sure. Sheedy wonât fancy a rebuild so heâll wheel out the old reliables
Baker and Jamesieâs injuries did for us in 99. We didnât have the depth to replace, says a lot about the strength of our backs that we were still thereabouts with those two struggling for fitness or not playing as they were vital to us.
Rewatching the match here and thereâs a gem in Martyâs commentary that I missed yesterday. Right after Tom M got the first point, Dan M caught the puck out.
âGood catch by Tom Morriseyâs brother Dan whoâs adopted*âŚto life at full back really wellâ
*im sure Marty meant adapted but it sounded like adopted
No, he definitely said adapted.
Back when Kilkenny were top dogs they got criticised for an aggressive, winning style. Referees never punished them, they could do what they wanted, they played too rough, Brian Gavin favoured them etc.
Itâs great to see All-Ireland champions Limerick being subjected to the same ire or scrutiny.
It means weâve arrived. Thatâs the greatest compliment to this squad, other counties who looked down on us as shit on their shoe for so long are now worriedâŚ
Itâs funny that you have the idea that people who follow hurling would have looked down on Limerick like they were shit on their shoe, but if it makes the win any sweeter for you then good luck.
Here are the official rankings
1 Limerick
2 Galway
3 Waterford
4 Kilkenny
5 Clare
6 Cork
7 Tipp
8 Dublin
9 Laois
10 Antrim
I think thatâs a bit harsh to be honest. Ok Limerick might never have been quite the whipping boys, they were never seen as a serious threat up to two years ago. Yeah the odd Munster championship and all Ireland appearance kept Limerick popular to a certain extent but with the possible exception of the 94 to 96 crew, they were never really seen as top dogs.
Wexford are gone so they are
My rankings are backed by science so they are
