Don’t think there has been a thread on this yet and I’m not counting that stupid Cork one. Leinster Quarter Finals all being played this afternoon. Dublin taking on Kildare at Newbridge today in a rematch of the first round fixture which Kildare won 1-10 to 0-9. Dublin have since beaten Louth and Kildare apparently haven’t played any match since. At half time it’s Dublin 0-6 Kildare 0-4. Dublin under Val Andrews are not expected to be as strong as last year’s Leinster champion team which agonisingly lost to a last second goal against Down.
Matches today are:
ESB Leinster MFC quarter-finals
Kildare v Dublin, Newbridge, 3.00pm
Laois v Wicklow, Portlaoise, 5.15pm
Longford v Westmeath, Pearse Park, 3.00pm
Meath v Offaly, Pairc Tailteann, 3.00pm
Last year’s champions Armagh scraped over Derry by 2-9 to 2-8 in last week’s Ulster Preliminary round tie.
“I Don’t Know” by Lisa Hannigan segues KFM’s coverage and I don’t know which team is going to win this. It’s level at Kildare 0-16 to Dublin’s 1-13 at half time in extra time. Kildare scored the first three points but Dublin have come right back. Harry Dawson has got 1-6 for the Ulster Minor Football League Champions and has stepped up magnificently in the absence of future superstar Ciaran Kilkenny.
Great fighting spirit by the young Dubs. It’s over, it’s level, the sides can’t be separated today, just like last year when it went to extra time after a replay. 0-16 to 1-13.
Laois win through, young Paul Kingston doesn’t have the power of his brother Donal but he’s got an eye for a score. No stars but they’re a decent hard working outfit.
