All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2015

Don’t talk to the peasantry. Let them off with their caid, it always belonged to the lowest of the lower orders and that’s very evident on here too…

Be quite jo

Hurling championship preview coming up on League Sunday now.

Never mind that the championship actually started today with two matches including an eight goal thriller between Antrim and Laois.

How so?

I thought Antrim and Galway didn’t get home games. Is this only for knock out?

Hard to call it this year. Tipp favourites but will struggle without McGrath. There was something lacking in them in last year’s final replay to suggest they have the stomach. If our crowd don’t win again (I predict they’ll have another year like 2013), I’d like to see Waterford or Limerick win it although I’ve a niggling feeling that Limerick peaked last year and won’t do much in 2015

your right

ye never win it

@myboyblue , @Kid Curry wtf happened today. I thought this was the year ye’d take out Offaly and escape that round robin section

The championship this year is like Tassotti’s arse on a park bench at 7am. Wide open.

I’m taking Dublin, Limerick and Clare as my three against the field and expect the final to be contested by two of these counties.

Limerick to win it, but it would not surprise me to see either of the other two win it either.

Not an unreasonable bet against the field, but I have an awful feeling that Limerick could be gone as early as June.

I don’t think Limerick will last pissing time. A loss to Clare or if not Tipp then they will be out to get TJ and arguing amongst themselves and will run into trouble quickly in qualifiers against any of Galway/Dublin/Wexford/Kilkenny/Offaly. I wouldn’t bank on Limerick beating any of these in the qualifiers. I think Limerick can be written off this year unfortunately, signs are bad and draw is not in their favour either.

People thought the same last year.

Kk once again for me. Mightn’t have the best hurlers, but will have the will and the grit.
Waterford look the best of the rest, though any Munster team could go all the way. Dubs strong. Galway may win one big game, but not three or four.

Ya I’d have KK as favourites too, Tipp second

Think Tipp have the best balanced team/panel but fear that we’ll manage to fuck it up somewhere along the way again. Probably to Kilkenny.

The Clare game is so important. A poor performance and heavy beating could knock the stuffing out of it for the year. Would be very hard to regroup after a bad defeat.

Qualifier draw is obviously important too. A nice draw and you can end up in the quarter finals in no time - as happened Tipp last year and Clare in 2013. Alternatively you look at the draw Tipp got after losing the first round in 2013 - Kilkenny away.

Looks like being a great championship anyway. Any of the top seven or eight can beat each other on any given day. Tipp have the added incentives to win it for Noel McGrath and for Eamon O’Shea’s last year.

Limerick are basically in much the same position they were this time last year, when they were also written off as having a tough draw after a league campaign that wasn’t all that it might have been and managerial upheaval.

Yet they ended up in an All-Ireland semi-final against Kilkenny in which they were in my view the better team and should have won.

As always with Limerick there’s the possibility that the whole thing could go tits up in a spectacular way but they’ve also shown that they deserve to be treated as serious All-Ireland contenders. Even merely getting back to the level of last year could see them over the line this time. And if they can improve at all, they’re in with a hell of a shout.

I would be shocked if we suffered a heavy beating to Clare tbh. A qualifier run could be good for us, but you can’t plan for that. I’d rather win 3 games in Munster, I think that would set us up nicely for a semi-final tbh.

Tipp are marginal favourites ahead of Kilkenny due to jjs retirement, if michael fennelly is back to his best their will be nothing between them. Waterford are playing the best hurling from the rest, but dont have the forwards still. Will maurice be hauled off if necessary with dan on the line? I have no idea where this limerick optimism is from. As likely to do nothing as something. The rest have no hope of winning it.
