A 2 man full forward line will win no All Ireland I’m afraid. As good as Dunford was* in the League Final, I think he could be so much better played closer to goal. His touch & searing pace would be a nightmare for any corner back.
Lar moved from inside out in that final, plus look where he was for 2 of his goals. KK in 2012 replay set up ala Galway anyway. Cork played 3 inside in the League Final.
Dunford played well out past the 45 for large swaths of play in the League Final.
In any case, if you watch the League Final back you will see Waterford launching long ball after long ball into M Shanahan with 2 men on him. That gameplan will not work 2 days on the trot imo.

Agree with this. In particular the m shanahan bit. Time and again launched in high with a defender in front and behind him.

Any chance of JBM dropping Shane O’Neill anytime soon? He was comically poor against Waterford.[/QUOTE]
No chance, and to be honest he was only doing what he was told and trained to do. He actually got on the ball well and was tenacious, but then wasted phenomenal ball.
The only corner back within an arses roar of him took himself off the panel.
I can’t emphasize enough what kind of a joke shop it’s looks from the outside. It’s probably as toxic as Clare but just in a different kind of way. A couple of bluffers are being cruelly exposed here.
Lads this is a ploy. It’s a diversion. On tv it may look hopeful, but at ground level you can see exactly what they are at. Watch the 2nd & 3rd plays after those long ones, and watch what it does to Corks structure.
Flesh that out further please, on TV it looked pretty hopeless. In fairness whatever they were losing leaving it into Maurice on his own, they were more than winning back around the middle of the park.
Id also like it fleshed out. Unless kev is saying Waterford identified shane o neills usage to be so poor that they gave it to him knowing theyd get it back further up the field?
That’s a given alright, but in most cases the Cork defence cleared everything that came in bar the few handy frees Johnny Ryan gave Maurice. Where Cork missed the trick was with Dunford, he played a blinder running at pace from midfield opening up Corks defence. How JBM continued with a conventional 6 man forward line was either him acting extremely dumb or try to be an extremely cute hoor.
Cork have to withdraw Horgan and Lehane to midfield next day. Close off space in middle and get them on the ball. Waterford will probably start conventionally and then switch to try and throw cork off
Pity there is no GAA TV show beyond just a highlights show with analysis of teams before games, how they set up, how to beat them. There has to be an appetite amongst fans.
Cork’s use of the ball was awful (hitting long high balls) but Waterford do give away lots of possession (or did that day). Other teams and maybe even Cork next day will punish giving pressure free ball to a defence.

Agree, but there seems a dearth of pundits with the intelligence and the balls to stick their neck out and say something.
Donal og would be my choice.
Hurling badly needs a joe brolly.
