Results of ball in
- MS wins it. What he does with it is almost irrelevant. But a score or an assist is a bonus
- Lose it or Cork win it and cork drive it down the field. However they are driving it into Waterford men. Waterford change direction quickly and Cork have lost their shape. Loads of space on opposite side. Danger.
What Cork should be doing is freeing up a good hurler (Kearney is ideal in present squad, Conor Sull better) and working ball out to at least midfield but generally working it across as Waterford will be heavy on the side MS is on obviously. Go man for man everywhere else. Trust your forwards, realise Cork have a better set than Waterford overall. Make it old school man to man, just it won’t be traditional positions on the field. That means you can play traditionally (or at least a bit more) and if you possess the better hurlers like cork believe they do (I’m not so sure) then they will win.
Interesting Kev.
Another one for you, did you think hauling off Aidan Walsh ahead of Kearney was a correct call? As bad as Walsh was, I thought Kearney was twice as bad.

Donal og would be my choice.
Hurling badly needs a joe brolly.[/QUOTE]
Shefflin’s gonna shake up the cosy world of hurling analysis.

I thought Walsh was awful. His positioning in hurling is suspect.
Kearney was doing his best to link play and was regularly ignored.
Kearney is on a different wave length to everyone else from what I saw.

Really. I thought his first touch was poor & he gave away a lot of ball. He never stopped going in fairness to him but his errors throughout seemed really basic skills to be messing up.
Ya there was mistakes. I think he was trying too hard at times.
In fairness Waterfords pressure was very good.
In general though I would focus on Waterford and some of the excellent hurlers they have. I really enjoyed watching them.
+1. I expressed similar sentiments after watching them at Wexford Park earlier in the league. Very enjoyable to watch a talented and committed side playing intelligently and effectively putting their work from the training ground into practice. And it’s not that they’re absolute slaves to the team structure too - they’ve got some great individuals capable of doing brilliant things off the cuff.
Bang on. Gleeson is an absolute star. Boardering on the ridiculously talented, and given the freedom to express that. I hope he carries it into championship and beyond. Could be special.
Gleeson may be getting all the headlines etc ( he is a special talent ) but Moran is the key cog for that team. He is an exceptional hurler.
Very true.
Suspected broken leg for Waterford’s Padraig/Padraic/Pauraic/Pauric Mahony.
Pauric Mahoney apparently after breaking a leg in Fraher Field tonight.
can we lock this thread till the quarter finals* please?
anything games before that are meaningless
*the 4 team quarter finals, another thing that makes the GAA so unique
Less than a week after scoring 11 points as Waterford became Allianz Hurling League champions, Pauric Mahony has apparently suffered a serious leg injury while playing for his club side Ballygunner.
oh no
why club chamionship this time of year
