All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2016

The Cork backs are unable to defend. If they aren’t out in front or winning the first ball cleanly it is total panic stations. Three big points in injury time to keep them in touch. Wexford need to drill more ball in front of their men and into the space

Indeed. Your namesake was the scapegoat in 1954 for Johnny Clifford’s late match winning goal. Redemption came two years later.

Wexford are average, Cork are rubbish. Can’t shoot, can’t pass, can’t tackle. Lehane, Cadogan and O’Farrell have the beating of their men at least but midfield is a disaster zone, the backs are giving away endless lazy frees and MacDonald will probably grab a goal at some stage.

Letting them get from 12-6 to 12-9 during first half injury time was fairly fucking poor. We make so many stupid decisions - it’s incredibly frustrating to watch. I’d expect Cork to pick it up a few notches and win by 5 or 6. Not dissimilar to the league quarter final a year or two ago when we had a decent half time lead after having the breeze but only scored 3 or 4 second half points.

Wexford are doing OK. Nothing great, probably more a case of cork being utterly shit. The distribution of ball into the forward end of the field is awful, no forwards there but lumping it down anyway. If they had that better they’d be up by more. Doran is a loss tho, Kehoe is a very different player.

Those 3 points before half time for Cork were vital. Look an absolute shambles. Embarrassing stuff really.

The skies are about to open here in Thurles by the looks of it. Might favour Wexford as the Cork backs are overdoing in on the ball

'Hon Wexford

Doran is game alright. He’s awfully frustrating though. Ponderous, big loopy swing, loose touch.

Cork have played some amount of embarrassing ball in the game. A good few of those passes were overhit by 20 yards. Shit load of wides as well.

Might have the legs on Wexford if they play the game at a higher pace, but if they don’t they’ll be in trouble.

Fouling like fuck. Wexford backs need to show a bit more composure and hit their men directly instead of flaking it aimlessly. Cork forwards aren’t much for tackling either so they’ve no excuse.

Oh absolutely, but he’s big and strong and will compete in the air on the wing or in front of goal. Now MacDonald is the only forward who realistically can compete on the high ball our backs seem intent on driving in.

Maybe against the wind we’ll need Kehoes running and work rate more so might work out OK.

Yeah, once Wexford forwards run at them they haven’t a notion what to do. Wexford far from out of it, first goal will be crucial. If Cork get through they could be in for an awful clipping in the quarters

Another thing that really pisses me off with Wexford is when we concede points from tippy line balls. At least one every game. Some defender caught sleeping and some cunt (O’Farrell in this case) jogs over to receive a little tapped line ball along the ground, jabs it up and points under no pressure. Lehane catching ball in the air uncontested for one of the injury time points too. Jack O’Connor is promising and game etc but could somebody please coach him. The amount of ball he drives away without looking for an opponent is crazy.

Jamesie O’Connor really needs to go to The Communications Clinic for a session on presenting. Moves his hands way too much.

The worst half of hurling I think iv ever seen Cork put in. Taking opposition into account. No offence meant wexicans

How has Lehane regressed so badly lads?

Just doesn’t have the belly for the battle IMO

What age is this Dunne lad? Very impressive the last two weeks

The ref not really applying the advantage rule here… he could let things develop
