All-Ireland U-21 2013

Kildare are the big winners here after last nights games, they’ll be hard bet in Leinster and might be a good bet for the whole thing now as well. It’s an impressive forward line they’ve got there on paper.

why is everyone writing off Longford?

I didnt wrote them off, just said my fancy was for Kildare. I just didnt mention Longford as I know little about them apart from being built on a decent minor team.

Laois v Kildare has bizarrely been fixed for Parnell Park.

fair enough, i thought that laois game would be in mullingar or somethnig Parnell seems like a strange choice, the wx v. ld game is in portlaoise that night…

Does Mullingar have lights? If that Kildare shower were any use they’d just cede home advantage but sure Dublin is practically home for Kildare GAA theses days I guess.

Linesmen ‘stoned’ at U21 game
07 March 2013

Louth’s Darren Clarke tries to speak with referee Derek Fahy at half time after he was sent off in Mullingar.
Top referee Derek Fahy was allegedly pelted with stones during last night’s Leinster U21FC quarter-final between Westmeath and Wexford in Mullingar.

Fahy was on linesman duty at the game in St. Loman’s Lakepoint Park which Wexford won courtesy of a last-second goal from Robert Dempsey in extra-time. Eye-witnesses claim that stones were thrown at the Longford official after he consulted with referee Fergal Barry regarding an incident which led to Westmeath senior panelist Kelvin Reilly being sent off in extra-time.

Westmeath GAA officials are expected to investigate the matter.

Why in the fuck was there a 17 year old playing for Laois U-21s last night.

Maybe he’s a very good player?

Because it would have been unfair to drop him after be scored 2 goals last time out. Also it makes bringing him to Tadhg Kennelly’s notice that bit easier.

actually, forgot to mention it last week, maybe you know but Tuohy has applied for Australian citizenship and should get it by end of the year, to coincide with end of his current contract and visa, so looks like he is out for good now anyway.

Aye I noticed that, fair play to him, I said before here I didn’t believe he had it to make it out there but credit to him he had more about him that I originally thought. He’s loving it out there and has really settled into the sport and the life.

I believe Killkenny ended the Irish product for a few teams. Hawthorn feel quite burned it’s said.

The icing in the cake for him was being instructed not to do further kicking practice, I can’t et this confirmed from this side, I’m sure spider and others know, but maybe they can confirm.

It’s a very different culture to at home. Players don’t hang out much together and if they do it’s small pods of guys. Maybe that’s part of being a pro, but it’s the same down along the levels.

what are the expectations in cork re wednesday night, Turenne? Not too much confidence in kerry - hoping for the best really

tony Kelly was 17 when he played u21 for Clare 2 seasons back

I’d expect that Cork team to win by 5-6 points Kerry.

I expect that you are correct turenne but hope you are not

Cork as is usual at this level are very good from half back up. Full back line would be somewhat of a worry un terms of experience. O Driscoll and Dorman have been around County teams but not sure how much exposure they have. The defensive back ups could be exposed by Tipp or teams outside Munster as well.

Midfield is very strong.

It’s a very dangerous forward line with good forwards ti come in as well. Dan McEoin has a prodigious boot and Connolly isn’t far behind him.

Is he the “great white hope”? Haven’t seen him this year. He looked good in last years minor team.

We don’t have great white hopes anymore in Laois. Kingston took that title to the scrapyard with him so we retired it fully.
