All-Ireland U-21 2013

I still have hopes for Kingston. Fat arse and all.

Ah I do too, but I had hope for Barry Brennan too and apart from one absolute dismantling of Glen Ryan and a cameo or two in '03 it never came to pass for him. We’ve seen more than our fair share of white hopes in Laois, I’ll leave Evan off for a bit longer for his own good.

I don’t see an issue with a 17-year old being selected for U21.

If you’re good enough etc etc…

You can have some players who develop quickly and tail off, others who don’t impress at younger ages and blossom later on and another batch who progress steadily as they accumulate experience and many other combinations in between.

I guess that’s why it doesn’t always follow to plan when some GAA head proclaims that “we’ll have a great team next year - sure 10 of this year’s starting team are underage again…”

I put it more down to cockiness from my experience Bandage. Young fellas start thinking everything will be easy very quick. They become brash about it and often motivate opposition unknowingly.

Cork beat Kerry by a point. 0-14 to 2-07, winning point came in injury time apparently. Limerick v Cork in the semi final now.

Tipp beat Waterford in the other match tonight.

Good result for Cork considering they conceded 2 early goals. Are Limerick at home for the semi DK? Rate yer chances?

Tipperary were wasteful enough tonight i believe but pulled away comfortably in the end. I thought Cork would beat Kerry by more tonight & would have classed them favorites to win Munster but now Tipp @ 13/8 look value if they get past Clare.

If Cork play like that against Tipp we’ll be well beaten. Cleary is fucking clueless, and even worse he’ll get the senior job when Conor Counihan goes…

Cork don’t have a midfield, if we have to play Tipp in Thurles then I’d put money on those odds heavy.

Is Cleary really that clueless though? Throw out a few names you would have ahead of him Turenne.

TBF I don’t follow club football enough to answer that, although I know Steven O’Brien (Nemo) is very highly rated. But anyway, our midfield got cleaned out all game tonight and they didn’t make a change until the 53rd minute in that area. They also had our tiny corner back marking a 6’4 Kerry lad in the middle of the pitch for ten minutes in the second half. They also had an out and out half-back and one of our best footballers playing in midfield where he had absolutely no influence on the game. And so on.

at least ye are winning under 21 games turenne. I think kerry have only won one munster under 21 title in 9 years!!! read that somewhere recently - i reckon it is true

You’ll get a couple of seniors out of that team all the same, namely James Walsh and Kieran Murphy.

Stephen O’Brien was one serious footballer. There wasnt a defender on the Cork 2010 All Ireland winning team that would lace his boots

James Walsh mentioned alrite in kerry as a prospect but didnt get one kick against Dublin in the NFL. It was his debut in fairness so maybe he will come good yet

Shields is as talented but is completely fucked by being kept in full back line. SOB was a serious operator though. Not sure what coaching he is doing. Cutbert skipping 21’s to go straight to Senior was not good for 21’s. It’s become a bit of a closed shop now, and Cork will suffer for that.

I agree somewhat with Turenne, Clearly has gone off the boil. Being the manager of only the county 21’s may help you lose your sharpeness coaching

In 2010 Dublin were taken to extra-time by Carlow and Louth yet won the All-Ireland. You’re being wilfully negative as usual. Any match where Cork beat Kerry by a point away from home after conceding two early goals is an excellent result for you.

How am I being negative? Tipperary have a superior team to a Kerry team we just struggled to beat at home and I’ve explained in detail how much Cleary fucked up tonight - can you explain where I am wrong?

And the match was played in Cork, not Kerry.

Cheer up, mate and stop being so miserable. You always sound miserable.

In other words, you were talking through your hole. Understood.

Limerick v Cork on Wednesday week in the Gaelic Grounds. Limerick have played a fair amount of challenge games in the run up to this but can’t see them causing an upset. Three years ago at minor they were hammered. Underage football in Limerick is in pretty bad state but at least the “Friends of Limerick Football” group are finally starting to get something organised underage. The Limerick County Board would happily see gaelic football banned in the morning - appointing Liam Kearns a few years ago was the worst thing they did as he started to bring some professionalism to the senior set-up and demanded better standards.

Cork - Tipp final it looks like, Tipp will shortly be the third team in Munster. Is Davy Power over the Tipp u-21’s this year? Was in college with him, a sound lad.
