Dublin’s bench sees them over the line again. Numbers game.
Kildare 2-15 Meath 0-13
3rd Tipperary v Cork U21 Final in a row down in Munster.
Was this Dara O’Se’s second year over the Kerry u-21’s?
Not a great start to his managerial career if so.

I would say 3rd perhaps? RATIFIED in 2012 iirc. Not sure it’ll matter hugely. Its Darragh by the way.
some lads on here seem to think the dubs are allowed introduce more subs than other teams…what next? dubs not allowed use subs…its also clear the dubs U21’s only keep winning because of the Croke park factor…
bitter muldoons in curry sauce stained jerseys…
Credit to Longford by the way, working off scant resources they have really put together some good underage outfits of late. How their county board continuously appoints spoofers like Glen Ryan and Jack Sheedy (FFS, now there’s a mercenary cunt if ever you saw one) is beyond me. A decent manager would do some good work in a county like that.
Monaghan pulling away from derry, 0-13 to 1-6. 5 minutes left.
Game turned following a red to the derry midfielder in the first half.

Don’t think anyone is cutting the legs from under the Dubs regarding their expected and constant underage success - just pointing out that they’ll more often than not have a stronger panel and replacements considering they’ve a quarter of the population to pick from.
I’d imagine Longford - population of 30/40/50k? - would be doing well to have six decent forwards on an u-21 side, never mind a few strong lads to be introduced and get them over the line. Dublin seem to have their underage structures sorted in both hurling and football so they look set to regularly clean up in years to come. Reaching a Leinster u-21 final means fuck all to Dublin, it would have been a decent achievement for Longford and nearly every other county in the province.
Cavan’s run in Ulster finally halted.
Donegal have beaten four in a row Ulster champions Cavan 1-7 to 0-9 with a 63rd minute Ryan McHugh goal
Last minute Ryan McHugh goal has deposed Cavan of their reign over Ulster at this level.
When was Cavan’s last defeat in ulster NK ?

I think any right thinking person would agree with you on that. Its a simple numbers game really, and it is shown up to a ridiculous degree at underage level. Simple fact really. Still, its good to see counties competing with them to a decent level all things considered.
I’m gonna guess 5 years ago.
2010 Ulster final to Donegal.

3rd year. 3 defeats to Cork
disappointing from a Kerry point of view. On paper Kerry had a strong panel. Kerry have a very poor record at this level. Last years minor and senior success mean many will make light of it. I wouldn’t be so inclined. It is disappointing

Yea all those U21’s Cork won really paid off for them alright.
Amazing how maths works out that way.
MBB
I hear you but I wouldn’t mind the odd under 21 win over Cork all the same

its only last few years they have got their house in order and are producing teams…they always had population but now they have structures and deserve huge credit for that…look at Laois, they were probably the first to have underage development squads and won underage but they totally lost the run of themselves and never reaped the rewards at senior…Any right minded individual can see it takes more than just numbers .the dubs having just 2 all irelands in nearly 30 years before 2011 shows that…dubs also play a lovely brand of football which is even more admirable with all the negative styles out there…
Would agree it’s more than just numbers but having such a huge pick, so many schools, coaches, games development officers, lucrative sponsorship deals, the best of facilities etc is something that the other counties just can’t compete with.
It is more than just numbers, its the millions of special funding also
