Allianz Football League 2013

Dick Clerkin just tweeted for people to spare a thought for the Kildare no 5 and his family at this difficult time

Can someone please make a gif of that dummy?

O Neill was the only thing that made that game bearable. Kildare are still way off. Will go so far, but any team with a few decent forwards will end them.

i know i’m already on record here for pointing out how bad Kelly is as a defender… he makes every rash mistake a defender can possibly make…this is another level…

All aboard the band wagon, its going to be a good summer.

Whatever about being sent to the stand for pie and chips by O’Neill’s dummy, it must be seriously embarrassing for the lad to take a jeering from Dick Clerkin.

Its just poetry to watch

That link isn’t working?

Runt reposted it there,

Rocko why the fuck are those links not working for me anymore, has something changed?

I can’t see Runts either

still would worry about Dublin defense… its all well and good going out in league and having an open game of football and see who outscores who but you need to start building a solid defense from the off i think… brennan still at centre back, full back line still very unsettled too…

I thought the hand passing for Kildares goals yesterday was very good.

edit: jesus what an inane post

Ah Scumpot, come on get on the band wagon. Come on, ya know ya want too.
DONEGAL GAA CHIEFS have expressed their annoyance at an injury sustained by attacker Patrick McBrearty in last Sunday’s tie against Dublin.
The Division 1 football league tie took place in Ballybofey with the teams finishing level at 1-10 to 0-13.
However TheScore.ie understands McBrearty was allegedly the victim of a bite to his shoulder during the game.
The Kilcar forward received treatment from Donegal medics at half-time of the incident and received further treatment on Sunday evening at Letterkenny General Hospital.
The incident has annoyed leading officials in the county but it is unclear whether any action will be taken if the referee Padraig Hughes did not see the incident.
The Armagh whistler was forced to leave the game during the second-half after injuring his ankle with Sligo’s Marty Duffy taking his place instead.
McBrearty is the star player for the Donegal U21 footballers who feature in the Cadbury’s Ulster U21 football final tomorrow night in Enniskillen against Cavan.
Donegal are chasing their first title since 2010 and McBrearty has notched 0-12 in their two victories to date over Tyrone and Derry. He is expected to be fit to play in that game.
The CCCC have apparently proposed a suspension here but there’s a strange lack of information on RTE’s report this morning such as who will be suspended and for how long.

It’s 3 months for an unnamed player.

I thought the RTE report said 3 games?

I heard 3 games as well, which I found odd as the GAA don’t tend to hand out “game bans”.

Wasn’t there a Dublin player seen biting a player in the past also? I definitely saw the clip of it on youtube, but I can’t find it now for the life of me or find the clip, maybe someone here posted it?

Dublin footballer Kevin O’Brien is seeking a hearing following the Central Competitions Control Committee decision to recommend a three-match suspension for a category III offence.

Having conducted an investigation into claims by Donegal that a Dublin footballer bit Paddy McBrearty in the league match on April 7th, the CCCC yesterday informed the Dublin County Board of the preliminary decision.

O’Brien, the 2012 under-21 All-Ireland winning captain, immediately indicated his intention to contest the ban, with a hearing expected to take place before the national football league final against Tyrone on Sunday week.

The Naomh Mearnog player denies the allegation of biting.

There is no mention in the GAA’s playing rules about how to punish such an offence so it is believed O’Brien has been charged under Rule 5 (aggressive fouls), category III – 5.11 which states: “To inflict injury recklessly on an opponent by means other than those stated above [kick, stamp, strike].”

The biting allegation was made by McBrearty and Donegal officials during and after the league match in Ballybofey between the 2012 and 2011 All-Ireland champions. In unusual circumstances, it was mentioned in both referee reports as Michael Duffy had to replace the injured referee Pádraig Hughes.

Following an examination of the alleged bite mark by the Dublin medical staff, Dublin County Board chairman Andy Kettle said last week McBrearty had sustained “a bruise”. The case will go to the Central Hearings Committee.

Misheard match as month obviously. Seems a little light if it was a proper bite.

Why would RTE avoid naming him? Weird.

Fairly odd reporting of this incident. I don’t understand why they were initially witholding the name of the player who’s been found to have committed the offence. He denies the charge and will try to clear his name, as is his right, but it shouldn’t preclude him from being named. Was it just because it’s a “nasty” offence and “they’re all amateurs at the end of the day” or something else?

Agree with both of you, RTÉ went to huge rounds not to name him, so I found it strange when The Times had no issue doing so. For want of bringing up a dog with a bad name, but you can be fucking sure if it was Galvin or Noel O Leary they’d have been named no bother.

3 games for a bite seems ridiculous.

Still trying to find that youtube clip by the way.
