Allianz Hurling League 2017 - Round of 8

None in Tullamore, doubt itā€™ll be an issue

eir sports only have rights for the group stages so itā€™s TG4ā€™s baby from here on in. Thereā€™s an article in the Irish Times trying to justify the 4pm start times for all quarters.

Informative. :+1:

Edit: Looks like itā€™s all footballā€™s fault.

KK vs Wexford isnā€™t part of a double header could they not have that at 2pm? Youā€™d be able to show two games live then and one deferred.

cc @GAA

Donā€™t be stupid. That would make sense

And the rugby. Cc @gilgamboa

Complete bullshit. I canā€™t make it up and down from Letterkenny on the day.

Itā€™s actually further removed from the general viewing population that the GAA are becoming. Make hurling more popular by only showing one live game? Jokeshop!

The Gaeltacht game got preference so. In fairness you have two AI semi-finalists.

And Monaghan v Dublin? Surely they could have let that one away.

Itā€™s completely nuts to have a situation where you have games being recorded and not being shown online.

Theyā€™ll have the full commentary on the Kilkenny v Wexford game but no one will get to watch it online until the result is known.

They seriously need to rethink how they sell rights in general. The only plan seems to be giving RTE and Sky everything that they want from an administration point of view until they milk that cow dry.

More people prefer football to hurling. Viewing figures dictate that Monaghan vs Dublin was always going to be shown.

Isnā€™t there usually the option to watch the deferred games live on TG4 Player? In that case it makes no sense that it is deferred on GAAGO.

EDIT: Doesnā€™t look like TG4 do this but Iā€™m almost sure it was an option in the past.

As much as I can take or leave football, thatā€™s a big clash and they canā€™t just fuck it away because the GAA have made a clusterfuck of the hurling fixtures.

That (the GAA) is the issue though.

Are there floodlights in Clones? If not they could surely have seen this coming down the line and made sure to keep at least one potential top of Division 1 game with a floodlit venue for Saturday night.

All final round games must throw in at the same time.

ā€¦if thereā€™s anything at stake in the games.

Maybe so but thatā€™s just more bullshit that makes no difference either.

Maybe so 20 years ago when there was little communication other than a landline or radio between venues. Teams know exactly what they have to do at all stages regardless of the the time of the fixture.

Thereā€™s no pleasing some people. Two hurling games on the telly and a full highlights package. Do lads just want an excuse to sit on their holes in front of the telly for the weekend is it?

No Iā€™d like to see my team playing live when I canā€™t get there.

Deferred coverage is bullshit. If a channel is showing a game Deferred it should only be allowed if they can show it live online.

Maybe there should be a Wexford GAA channel ?
