Lads donāt like the rule so they say itās not a red card. The refs are instructed to send players off for these types of challenges. Presumably after what happened in the all ireland.

More of a frontal collision that than a āhead high tackleā . In truth, is there such a thing as a ātackleā allowed in hurling? Shoulder to shoulder or play the ball is all that is strictly allowed as far as I can make out.
What exactly a āhead high tackleā is, is beyond me, a nebulous concept, open to fairly wide interpretation, which will make life very very difficult for players and referees alike, unless itās a blatant straight clothesline, in which case it should have been a red card anyway.

I suppose. Hard to introduce new players in an AI final though, the natural tendency is to go with what you know. Personally I would have gone with the team that started the replay against Clare, Joe Cooney back in the HB line, Whelan at 11. But Iām not the manager and itās hindsight.
Relax lads, Kelly got the chance to soften the fellas cough ahead of the summer. Thatās what the league is for.
If he just crashed into Maher there would have been no card and possibly even no free. However Kelly led with forearm straight into Maherās faceguard/neck. It was always going to be at least a yellow imo, and I wasnāt overly surprised with the red.
Itās been publicly flagged in the lead up to the league that referees will be clamping down on high tackles and illegal handpasses.
