We might not win the All Ireland this year but by fuck the days of the us being easy pickings are well over, ye cunts.
Limerick will do the 5 in a row
Ten years ago the county would go into a shut down for a league win. A feeling of âmehâ?
All this team need to do now is get a Munster final.
Ye should worry about doing one in a row.
Time for the championship 15 selections
Picks itself 1-12 though Tom Morrissey will need to step up
I wouldnât say a feeling of âmehâ. Usually teams on the up would win likes of the league or Munster before the big one, we did it the other way round. I enjoyed the day today immensely, pressure off and so comfortable in Croker and looking like we were never going to lose. Real satisfaction and enjoyment as opposed to delerious celebrations. We want to get used to this, we want to be here every year
The last time Limerick won the league, twenty two years ago, the manager Tom Ryan got sacked.
That was a great Limerick team that should have won two All Irelandâs
Ah now, thereâs no need for that
They reminded me of the Waterford team of the noughties. Their top 6 or 7 players were probably better than the top 6 or 7 in any county - fellows like Joe Quaid, Steve McDonagh, Dave Clarke, Ciaran Carey, Mike Hourigan, Gary Kirby. Like that Waterford team though, carrying too many players to win an All Ireland.
Waterford nearly caught Limerick out in 1994 Munster semi final in Thurles.
As one sided a 7 point game as youâll ever see.
On a point of order, it was an 8 point win
Limerick backs are damn good, abrasive, dirty really but exactly how you want your backs to play, nice nudges and hit just to knock forwards off balance, not big clothesline or anything stupid that draws the refs attention.
Noel Connors was the first ive seen to defend the limerick system properly, to play off the attacker to the side the wants to run into space, he positioned himself perfectly a few times but he just didnât have the pace to do much with it, and some of the head high ball in to the limerick forwards was unmarkable. Very well coached, takes years to do that properly, clare do it to a degree, just over do it. Canât see galway learning it in 6 weeks
Ye should worry about doing one in a row.
Weâve stopped worrying at this stage
Noel Connors was the first ive seen to defend the limerick system properly
Not being smart here but didnât Gillane hit 1-5 from play and had a few handy wides too? He made Gillane run out of road once, other than that, before Gillane tired, I thought Gillane gave him a bit of a hosing to be honest
Morrissey got through a fright of work there today. He had a savage hook there at one stage nearly at corner back
I donât agree, on another defender gillane would have had a lot more in my opinion, connors was on an island an awful lot
He didnât play the perfect game, my comment was more that he tried to minimize the damage well, and recognized the danger quick
We didnât have the forwards.
Every dog has his day.
His limerick leader columns were gold as was his radio show
