None, that Clare crop were ridiculously gifted. You literally couldn’t get a more suitable gang for that sharp hurling, light, fast, move, style. Never ever learned to face their own puckout though and they never lasted; well most of them
Tbf, a big reason as to why Limerick have the best players is because of the coaching. Their skills & decision-making have largely improved beyond recognition since Kinnerk became involved.
He’s turned players with a lot of talent into genuinely class players.
At the minute, PK – if he shifted camp – would be able to improve everyone, obviously enough. But I reckon it is only with Clare that he might be able ro beat Limerick. Cork, Galway and Kilkenny would be rather more difficult projects.
Limerick’s major problem – unmentioned in any season preview I saw – would come if Nickie Quaid got injured.
Just on way home from Super Valu Park. The goals probably put a shine on it for Tipp, when in reality they were outmuscled and outplayed second half. The goals conceded will give Kiely something to beat players with over the next few weeks. Two of them were of the soft variety. Tipp will need to find a centre back, Brian McGrath just couldn’t handle Lynch, his distribution isn’t up to much either. Cathal O’Neill did several good things at 6 for Limerick but his distribution too was poor at times and led to at least two Tipp points. Lynch & O’Dalaigh best for Limerick, Gearoid O’Connor and Jake Morris kept Tipp in it. Poor enough game in tricky conditions.
Didn’t learn a lot there other than the 15 we have is good, plus about three subs and that’s it. Donnacha put in a grand shift but he won’t displace anyone. And coughlan isn’t good enough. CON put in a good shift but he isn’t hannon.
Lynch is class. And Dan Morrissey remains criminally under rated
