Allianz National Hurling League 2024

Talk about changing the subject

I’d say to be honest that a perfectly fair summation nobody could possibly find fault with would be that a Limerick team down to 14, toyed with a pumped up Galway with the ref giving them everything. Game ended in a very pleasing draw

Can anyone find fault with this seemingly fair assumption?

Cork FFS sake.

A Portlaoise double-header would have been interesting, probably would have fit the crowd, although two games in a row is tough on any pitch atm.

The lads on RTÉ radio were waxing lyrical about Cathal O’ Neill at 6 today on the wireless. Where did Declan Hannon play?

The Wexford v Cork result was immaterial as it turned out but concerning nonetheless from a yellowbelly perspective.

CON was 5. But we’re very fluid like

CON was very clearly left wing-back once Coughlan went off.

He was quite central early on because Galway played a sweeper so we had a spare man, it alternated at times.

He must be, because Limerick kept throwing the ball & he let them away with it throughout.

Dug up a bit of it to fix some drainage issues but now the weather is too bad for the grass to grow back

Shefflin won’t be too despondent after that game. Galway look to be going the right direction at least. O’Sheas mark won’t show till May if it shows at all. Where has Shane Cooney gone? (is he Conors brother?)

He won’t be too despondent but he’ll be well annoyed. It was a chance to get the monkey off the back and they couldn’t pull it off

Think he has a knock. Actually thought that was Galway’s best performance of the league today. Yes against 14 but they were probably better when it was against 15 to be honest. Good bit of cut to the game in difficult conditions. Even though Leinster doesn’t mean a whole pile to Galway the aim has to be to beat Kilkenny this year and get straight into a semi-final. Should have done it last year. Big questions if they don’t manage it this year.

Big difference in the overall scoreboard was long distance freetaking. Byrnes was 100% and Niland missed 3/4.

Galway had some very straight forward wides in that second half also from the likes of Monaghan.

Still though, Galway should be seeing that game out today given how many limerick were down and how much possession they had.

They seem to be be looking for this 40 yard stick pass to set up goals like Conor Cooney to Whelan v Dublin and it nearly worked today but Quaid made a decent save from Cathal mannion who is class.
Galway have question marks over Conor Cooney and Niland is a relative passenger when he’s not 9.5/10 on frees. Can’t get away from the defender and always turns onto his left. Grand at club or colleges level.

On the 3 red card incidents. SOB red was so silly.
David Burke flicked Casey in the chest yet the NAP diver clutches his head, he really does anything in his way to gain an advantage whether it’s diving for frees, shoulder style tackles or general pupping.
I think Touhys was a red on FOC.

Adam English rubber stamped his class again today. What a player.
Byrnes is a cheat code as I said and Tom Morrissey and Lynch gave another 8/10.

Limerick would rather not play Clare in a league final so it will be interesting if Clare or indeed limerick play weakened teams.
I could see a Limerick v Tipp league final if I had to guess at this point.
