The problem is how do you stop them? Would banning fertilizer have stopped McVeigh? Banning planes prevent 9/11? It’s a complex problem with no easy solution. Monitoring the activities of known violent nutcases would appear to be the best hope, and by all accounts the perpetrator here was a known violent nutcase.
