On his way to a sting operation when he was stopped by the cop. He should have been behind bars long ago in CA for multiple felonies but we have a very liberal justice here now that believes violent criminals are victims.

He wasnât charged with that though, he was charged with intentional homicide. All the defense had to do was show there was sufficient evidence of self defense. The verdict was unaminous.
That should help things cool down a bit.

If you are starting from the point that thereâs a good chance everyone has a gun, then shooting anyone could be seen as self defence really.
