Brian Lenihan just mentioned on RT News that the banking sector did not cause the current economic problems and that overspending did. That’s why Bord Snip’s recommendations need to be ratified.
I can’t believe that he said that- he may be correct that banking isn’t the only contributing factor to the “economic problems” but even this clown can’t be still peddling this shite
It’s not the only factor but it’s by far the most significant. Clown.
Can’t believe they’re considering charging people on medical cards for prescriptions. It’s a fiver or something in the six counties and we had a report the other day which reckoned we spend €100m too much on branded drugs when compared to the UK’s use of generic drugs. And the UK isn’t even progressive there - that’s just a complete overspend but of course nobody’s interested in solving the institutional problems like tackling pharmaceutical companies. Because we sold our economic independence to US multinationals a long time ago and allow ourselves to be completely dictated to.
Shambles of a fucking country.

Shambles of a state rock not country.
Anyone else think that An Bord Snip Nua is a strange name for this committee?
Seems like a mixture of Irish and slang!

There’s a chance its a name made up by the media farmer…
Its Special Group on Public Service Numbers and Expenditure Programmes
It’s like everything else in this banana republic, Farmer.
Thrawneen has the right idea, move to France, proper fcuking country, a nuclear power, happy to give the two fingers to the yanks if needs be, no burkhas in schools, plenty of colonies, own language, solvent, the president has a model on his arm, Bertie was dumped, Cowan…don’t make me laugh.
Allez France.
It’s not.
That’s its official name.
Why would they stick ‘nua’ on the end of it if the media made it up?

Not sure wolfe tone would approve of that one shannonsider
on the other hand 35 hour working week:thumbsup:
For once Ncc is hundred percent correct:thumbsup:
How come Lenihan refers to it as that then?
Also how does ‘Snip’ come out of the name you call it?
I am fascinated by this now.

He would be ok with it padjo, I believe Wolfe Tone may have held a commission in the revolutionary French army. The greatest of all patriots is Tone, he could have had a very comfortable life in Dublin but he could see the injustices around him and he acted.
much like myself
I always pictured you as more of a Napper Tandy figure, NCC.
nearly sure napper tandy is a fingalian
This ‘Bord Snip’ craic is a bit of a con in fairness. A desperate attempt by fianna fail to wash their hands of the most brutal public service cuts in generations. Didn’t bother listening to Linehan but if he said that it’s a disgrace. People haven’t got angry enough in this country yet, that’s the problem. When we’re throwing bins through the windows of anglo irish he might admit they had something to do with it.
