Superb

:pint: :pint: :pint:

good stuff thrawneen.

I told TASE I met you and you would want to see the jealousy in his eyes.

Absolutely gutted so he was

I’m not surprised. I’d say we’d get on famously.

Could someone please save me the hassle of searching by confirming the kick off times for both games? Much obliged in advance.

8.30 and 6.45 I believe but am open to correction.

Glenmalure Park time or Nou Camp time?

Wexford Park time.

Ireland are flying to Barcelona at the moment and will train at Espanyol’s training ground this evening. They’re heading for Andorra then tomorrow.

Trap observers will have in the past noted that he lays out a team on day 1 of training and it’s often the team that’s selected for the actual game. The ā€˜first’ team in training yesterday was:

Given,
O’Shea, St Ledger, O’Dea, Ward,
Duff, Fahey, Andrews, McGeady,
Keane, Doyle.

Dunne’s suspended for this one so the choice is really whether he moves O’Shea inside to partner St Ledger and gives a game to Kelly or Coleman or goes with the above.

Interesting to see Fahey in there. Maybe he reckons we need more guile in midfield to break them down. I thought Andrews would be more likely to miss out than Whelan but I think Whelan’s on a yellow card (open to correction on that).

Thought Long might get the nod to partner Keane too.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Coleman start at right back in a game like this alright, would provide a bit more directness than O’Shea(who would move to centre back) and more attacking than Kelly. He will get away with his headless defending against the likes of Andorra but his defensive limitations may well count against him all the same

Whelan is on a yellow, indeed and these Andorran cunts have a reputation for playing a dirty game so not too surprising to see Whelan being left out. (It shouldn’t be surprising anyway as he’s absolutely shit, but sure there you go.)

Tardelli said yesterday that they may still change the team and were looking at other defensive options. I know you wouldn’t expect them to actually announce the team this early but I don’t think they usually suggest there might be changes so it may not be as clearcut as usual this time.

Defensively I think that’s the best of the options. O’Dea has done well (I await the predictable response from the forum fool) in recent internationals and is the replacement for Dunne on merit now. Interested to see how Fahey goes - no doubt Whelan’s booking might be playing a part in Trap’s thinking but I think there’s certainly room for a midfielder to force their way into the team if they can put any sort of decent performance together.

O’Dea has started the last few matches for Leeds and they kept their first clean sheet in the league this season last weekend. I’d have more confidence in him if he was beside Dunne but obviously that’s not possible. Would have no qualms about starting him at the moment anyway.

Jon Walters didn’t travel to Barcelona. Not sure what the story is with his injury. He’s pulled out of most recent squads and invariably been available for the next club game post internationals.

Walters appears to be a bit of a header. Shame because I rate him. However, Cox has turned up and shown a lot more than he’s ever done so he’s way ahead of him right now, imo.

I know it’s only Wednesday but is it too early for a 51 headcount for next Tuesday?

O’Dea is decent when partnered with a fairly reliable defender. St. Ledger has been the model of consistency in Trapattoni’s side so I wouldn’t have any major worries. Both St. Ledger and O’Dea were excellent in the friendly win against Italy when paired together. Have we called up anyone to replace Kilbane?

I don’t think so. We named 27 initially so we still have numbers despite the 2 or 3 withdrawals so far.

Starting XI Named:

Given,
O’Shea, St Ledger, O’Dea, Ward,
Duff, Whelan, Andrews, McGeady,
Keane Ā©, Doyle.

Fahey was a ruse.
