Funny, the first time I heard Kyuss, without knowing any of their backstory, my thoughts were “QOTSA with shit vocals”. Many years later, I’ve gone 180. Garcia is pure daycent.
Ah I see now. Yeah they get progressively more polished and tighter after that, they even did electric/acoustic versions of their last album High Country. Every album worthwhile though, the newest one is probably my second favourite of the lot. Warp Riders is a good mix of the doom and the rock.
You just can’t beat a bit of Southern Rock now and again. It hasn’t gotten a whole pile of airplay since the days of the Black Crowes. These lads are the best I’ve heard in a while

In the hullabaloo of the hurling season of seasons, I omitted to post on the passing of one of the true legends of heavy metal, Vinnie Paul. Passed away back in June of a massive heart attack.
After 5 years of touring on Pelagial, THE OCEAN deliver their long-awaited 8th studio album, split into two volumes to be separately released in 2018 and 2020 respectively, titled Phanerozoic.
The Phanerozoic eon succeeded the Precambrian supereon, spanning a 500 million-year period leading to the present day. It has witnessed the evolution and diversification of plant and animal life on Earth, and the (partial) destruction of it during 5 mass extinction events.
Conceptually and musically, The Ocean’s Phanerozoic is the missing link between the albums Precambrian and Heliocentric / Anthropocentric.
