Anyone with Starlink broadband?

Is anyone here with Starlink for their broadband, and if so, how do you find It?

My work colleague - based very rural and works from home, says it’s top notch.

There’s an initial expense of a couple of hundred to get set up i believe but after that it’s 50 or so a month.

Both her and hubby WFH and are on teams all day and the quality never drops.

Dont think i need to change in the city but if i was out rural I’d switch to it.

Ya had it until was able to get fibre, working from home and no issues with it, would recommend it if fibre not an option

We have it. Flawless so far. We paid for the dish, but locked in at 40 a month for life.

Heard it’s steady in rural locations
Has to be of great benefit,
As even parts of Cork city have serious black spots

Wonder will it turn out like the rest of the providers though?
Bloody monopoly

It won’t ever be a worthwhile option in an area where you have access to fibre cables. He said that himself

Seems to work well in bedsits :man_shrugging:

My computer science lecturer has it. Lives rural, didn’t complain about it. Pretty low latency levels allegedly.

The same fella, who is no dud got good advice off someone in the industry in recent months. If I remember correctly, it might be under the national broadband plan currently that a provider has to connect your home to fibre, so the trick he was told is to sign up to Vodafone or Eircom or whatever, get them to run the fibre and dig the trenches for the work etc, then cancel within the no quibble period. He did that, cancelled the order when it was done, kept the star link, and the fibre connection is there for anytime he chooses to use it in the future.
The Starlink mustn’t be bad if he is choosing it over fibre.

We have access to fibre but I don’t currently have any intention of changing.
