Hate the close season and all the speculation but the following are the stories that appear to have the most substance:
Fabregas to Barcelona, now odds on with some bookmakers
Toure to Arsenal
Gallas to leave, looks like a certainty
If Fabregas wants to leave, which sadly looks likely given the comments attibuted to him over the last few days, then so be it. Just need to make sure a fair transfer fee is received. Can’t really complain, go to Spain, kidnap a child, get a few great seasons out of him and get a handsome ransom to give him back.
Too many goalkeepers linked to try and hazard a guess as to which one is most likely to be signed, it’s fairly clear there will be one coming in though.
Think chances are Fabregas will leave alright. Not easily replacable although I thought Nasri was impressive in his role when he was injured. Shocked that he didn’t make the French WC squad - one of Arsenal’s better tippy tap players. Toure would be a great signing I think. Arsenal need a bit of muscle in the middle of the park and I rate Toure, he’ll be happy to read. Gallas can fook off, stroppy w@nker throwing his toys out of the pram cos he’s not getting a pay rise. Fook off. Arsenal should sign Lloris I feel. Or Jens Lehmann.
Sadly for Arsenal fans and premier league viewers Fabregas’ transfer to Barcelona appears more and more likely as each day passes, the Guardian are reporting that there reports that he has asked Wenger for a transfer.
This could mean then end of the 4-3-3 formation Wenger persisted with last year as it was designed to get the best out of Fabregas, not sure how it would work with Chamakh and Van Persie anyway. I expect Yaya Toure and a briefcase of cash with ÂŁ30m inside to be exchanged for Fabregas. Wenger will not spend the proceeds and claim that if he signed an experienced player it would kill the career of Craig Eastmond, Henri Lansbury and Jack Wilshere. After they crash out of the titel race in January next year he will claim that the team are young and are getting closer to challenging for trophies.
Overrated goalkeeper Lloris, he looks world class in some matches and when on form commands his area better than any other keeper for such a young one but when he is having an off day he is terrible and he had far too many of these games for Lyon this season, If he could be as good as he was in the 2 legs against Ireland and a couple of the champions league games he could be the best in the world but at the moment he doesn’t have that consistancy.
More importantly where will Cesc play for Barca? Is he not quite similar player to Xavi and Iniesta who are both arguably better than him? Presume they’ll squeeze him in somewhere but doesn’t seem an ideal fit.
Yeah, probably. Would their first team now be Xavi-Busquets-Pedro/Bojan, Messi-Zlatan-Iniesta? Presume he’ll get in ahead of Pedro/Bojan or maybe they’ll be pushed up if Zlatan is given the gate. I’d say they’ll give him another year though. Will Fab mind not being the main man?
Iniesta has to come in there obviously. Xavi, Messi and Iniesta are the definites. Iniesta can move between midfield and attack so Fabregas can be accomodated in midfield if necessary.
Bojan finished the season very strongly. He’s been touted as a makeweight in the Villa deal but I don’t see Barca being in a hurry to get rid of him.
bojan and his family are staunch barca people, hard to see him wanting to leave, he came good later in the year and has loads of potential…Henry to the NY Red Bulls looks like a done deal as well
