Arsene Wenger - Adieu!

Surely it’s time for this bluffer to go. Arsenal haven’t won anything in 8 years and haven’t been challenging for the league since 2004.

At the moment they’re languishing outside the top four on the same number of points as Liverpool - a club in turmoil.

Many Arsenal fans would still have you believe that Wenger is a world class manager when in reality he’s been living off past glories for some time now

He’s the fifth highest paid manager in the world, yet his excuse is always about the financial capabilities of his club.

I wouldn’t be any hurry to get rid of him if I was at Arsenal. We don’t know how much of the financial prudence is down to him but it’s hard to believe the club’s finances are dictated by one employee.

If Wenger had any principles he would walk away or force the issue with the Arsenal board, but he hasn’t, instead he is willing to stick it out at an underachieving club and give out the ‘prudence’ rhetoric while he is one of the highest paid managers in the world despite having not won a trophy in 8 years - in a shit league I might add.

Another disappointing performance at home to a mid table club tonight. Lucky to come away with a draw.

Was it Pardew who ridiculed Wenger a few years back for not fielding English players and some snide comment about French players?

Yes.

Arsenal’s problem is that they are a little bit shit in most positions and really shit in one or two (LB) so they are no quick fixes really.

Gibbs is out for three weeks so we get to see Arjen Robben running at Santos in two weeks. Jesus.

Thought it was fairly lousy on the poor fucker when his own fans were booing him last night night when he came on for Gibbs. I know he’s shit but the Arsenal fans seem to love an ol boo of late.

Central midfield was a scandal last night i thought, Ramsey & Wilshere are way too attack minded and left the back 4 badly exposed at times.

I am beginning to lose all confidence in Wenger. :frowning:

You could put the Great Wall of China in front of that Arsenal back four and they’d still manage to look exposed. Thomas Vermaelen fooled people into thinking he was a good defender a couple of seasons back by popping up to score goals at the other end, he’s actually a shit defender. Per Mertersacker is 8 foot ten inches tall but has the aeriel ability of an ostrich, he is also a shit defender. Bacary Sagna was decent player when he first arrived , but a couple of leg breaks have set him back hugely and he has also become lazy…Did I mention that he is a shit defender. Another shit defender, Kieran Gibbs, was replaced last night by Andre Santos, who is an unbelievably shit defender

All valid points but do you not agree it’s tremendous entertainment?

An accomplished defensive midfielder to play with Wilshere and Cazorla would make a big difference to that team.

There’s no doubt about it, Arsenals games are usually entertaining to watch, for both the comedy of their defending and the quality of their attacking football. They desperately need an enforcer in midfield, Vieira left over seven years ago and unbelievably, Wenger hasn’t made any attempt to replace him, apart from maybe Abou Diaby, who has legs made of weetabix.

Looks like Arsenal are out of the FA Cup to Blackburn today.

Surely this is the final straw for the board?

If it’s not it should be when Bayern decimate them in Europe - which they will do.

Looking that way Bomber. His signings recently, esp in the Defender category has been woefully bad. Offensively the team are limited enough but defensively the abysmal.

Change is now needed.

How long more will Wilshere be happy there?

Wilshere is a good prospect DK, but he is no where good enough to be thinking like that imo.

Ridiculous talk here - the great man should have the job for as long as he wants it.

This from BleacherReport explains how the likes of Bayern Munich can and do pay huge wages to proper world class players while the likes of Arsenal cant/wont. It’s outdated, long and slightly off topic but worth the effort.
